best "vault" cd of all time,
By A Customer
This review is from: Moments from the Fringe (Audio CD)
this cd was one of their best works yet. made up of mostly demos we the fans got to hear the raw, fresh sound of the songs that would end up having an affect on the music indusrty. the style ranging from rock to an up tempoed beat make this cd worth your money. also the 8 unreleased tracks are very ear catching and with the mix of matt and jason's voices will give you an evening filled with tremendous sounds and melodies

The tribe's history and fun stuff,
By David Trombley "Music Nutcase" (Brooklyn Park, Minnesota United States) - See all my reviews (REAL NAME)

If you like Saigon Kick and get the chance...buy this disc...What you are getting are the raw tapes that were the beginning of their hit songs, and of course funny tracks that never made it on to a record... I was lucky...I got this cd, and Jason's solo disc "Houston we Have a Problem" from the record label...which had a link to the old Saigon Kick and SuperTransatlantic websites... This disc has 18 tracks...9 of which are groundworks for songs that made it on to vinyl, the others are fun songs that Jason kept in his tape vault. Also on the disc are comments made by Jason on each of the tracks... I got this disc after the break-up and before SuperTransatlantic...but listening to it just makes you want to have the Tribe back together and rocking again...

for those who miss this band, this is a very good option and for the collectors the final item to own. original takes, some leftovers although don't know why. Great quality sound. A must, period.

Saigon Kick - 'Moments From The Fringe' (Ranch Life),

This eighteen track collection of demos and unreleased Saigon Kick tunes is better than what I had expected. I mean, you get to hear the early 'raw' versions of the Saigon Kick gems that you just love to experience like "Love Is On The Way", "God Of 42nd St", "Feel The Same Way", the *ss-kicking "Hostile Youth", "Lizard" among others. Then 'Moments Of The Fringe' brings to light eight never-before-heard songs from their vault - like "Spidee The Rapist", "Spot Him A Beer" and the rocking "My Heart Screams". A definite should-have.

the so called professional music critics always seem to put this awesome band down, for the life of me i just cant understand why?this is a band with no equal PERIOD!!!their sound is not to be and shouldn't be compared to any other band.they were unique and are very very sorely missed.in their time we had the big bands like nirvana and metallica dominating the music scene.if Saigon kick came out now in 2010 i personally think their path would have been different.i think they would have been taken more seriously by the public.they really gave it their all to please us,the listening public.maybe we can make it up to them by requesting to the record company [ATLANTIC RECORDS]to put their records back on the shelves so the people can hear it again?all their albums were great and this one Moments From The Fringe is no exception.

Fringe Benefits,

Interesting, quirky leftovers from one of the most interesting bands in rock history perhaps. Favs include "Hey Hey Hey" (one of their first recordings), and "Beautiful", which are two of the more rollicking hard rockers here, plus the beautiful "You And I", "Homeland", and "Salvation" and of course the acoustic version of "Colors" is sweet. Just some odds and ends if you will of their relatively short career.
Overall a nice final chapter for the hardcore fans, I was wanting to join their fan club right after the first album...and for some reason it never got off the ground, don't think there ever was one actually organized, I remember being at probably my 3rd SK show, and Jason actually recognized me and gave me a nod back in the day, they didn't seem to have throngs of people going to their shows, and it was easy to get near the front, less than 20 bucks each time and it was just an amazing experience to see them live. There was a group of fans... or tribe if you will that I would see each time I'de go, and it was such a good time, and with this collection the legacy of this influential band lives on. Their music was at times very over the edge, hard rock, but balanced by so much melody and peacefulness, it was just an awesome array of emotions you would feel. Still wish they were around, or at least had made a couple more records, one of most intense, melodic, alternative hard rock bands ever.

This is what it is, demo's b-sides and just some really wacked out stuff that these guys have been known for. This is for the fans who want something from someone cause they can't afford a new album right now. This is all filler, there is no doubt about that, but hey I'll wait for a new album. This shall tie me over till then. Thanks for this one, I really enjoyed it.
