Takes FIVE MINUTES to drop to the correct temperature.

First, the buttons push too easily when it's on so frequently I find myself staring at one of the blank screens (usually, the shut off compass mode).

I purchased this product on Oct 4, 2011. This watch is well worth the money. I am familiar with ABC watches and this is superior to all my previous even my coveted Suunto. Once the watch was adjusted for conditions it has been spot on. The sapphire crystal resists scratches. The baramoter tracks with local predictions and the altimeter is pretty accurate once it is adjusted correctly. The compass is accurate to within a few degrees of my military lensatic compass. In my opinion it is a very good watch for the outdoor enthusiast. It is very comfortable to wear. I would highly recommend this watch to my friends.

I like the sapphire crystal, but it should have been inset a bit into the bezel for protection. While sapphire doesn't scratch, it will shatter if given a sufficient blow. The watch arrived with a dead CR 2032 battery, but the user replaceable battery hatch made the change a snap. Setting up the functions required patience, and the manual could have been a little more explanatory, but these minor flaws are not fatal to enjoying the watch. It has a nice, clear screen and is fairly easy to read; however, I would rather see them put the barometer graph on the main time mode screen, rather than some tiny graphic representation of the weather that you have to manually change yourself. The functions are relatively accurate for general information. If having complete accuracy is important, or necessary for you, consider buying another (and more expensive) watch. I cannot attest to its water resistance. If having a sufficiently loud alarm is important to you, then the VS-1's alarm will be a deal breaker. It's very weak, like many similar models, such as the Suunto Observer. Fortunately, I don't use the alarms, so it's not a major problem for me. But it will be annoying to some people. The strap is very comfortable to wear. In summary, considering what I use it for, it's a nice watch, and I don't regret buying it.

I have owned this watch for 2 years and worn it for most of that time. It's a disappointment on many fronts. First, the buttons push too easily when it's on so frequently I find myself staring at one of the blank screens (usually, the shut off compass mode). You have to frequently cycle all the way through 8 functions to get back to where you are. I was very hopeful about the temperature gauge. Alas, it always reads a balmy 89-90 degrees because it picks up only your ambient body temp. I think if you leave it off for several minutes it picks up the right temp, but quite inconvenient. The altimeter is just bizarre. You can follow instructions to get it set to your location but I frequently find it reading -300 ft when I am on the 23d floor where my apartment is located. Strange. The compass I think works okay but shuts off pretty fast to conserve power. The lap mode is serviceable, but nothing you can't get on other watches. The weather feature and humidity indicator are pointless usually because unless you are on the side of a mountain (in which case I hope you're not relying on this watch )you can get weather from other sources. It's a fairly "glib" sun, or partly cloudly, or rain, and is occasionally correct. Finally, the backlight is annoyingly short. Setting the alarm in lowlight is not the most fun 10 minutes of your life. The two time zone feature is nice and accurate.

Anyway, I plunked down $150 bucks for it a couple of years back and I needed to own up to my decision, but now, having served my time so to speak, I will look for a replacement without delay.

I really, really wanted to love this thing. It was the most expensive watch I've ever purchased, and I planned on using it for a while. Sadly, the features that it lists are sensitive - meaning conditions have to be perfect for some features to work.

Temperature: Doesn't work unless the watch is taken off of your wrist. Takes FIVE MINUTES to drop to the correct temperature. Borderline useless feature; at least for me.

Compass: I was planning on using the Compass feature to help me with my poor sense of direction while driving. Sadly, it must be held level to the ground to get a reading. After driving for 60 seconds, the compass blanks out - and when you level it out, it still blanks out. You have to cycle through the features to reset the compass. Or hold a button for 4 seconds.

Screen: Absolutely sexy. Really nothing more to say. Durable too.

Navigation: Let's say you want to get to the alarm feature. That's 8 pushes of a button. And if you want to get back to the navigation screen, you can either cycle through the 8-9 features, or hold a button for 4 seconds. I was planning on switching back and forth between compass and time, but holding a button for that long is pretty annoying.

Never used any of the other features. The VS-1 is sitting in a box on my counter. It will be mailed back to Amazon tomorrow.

I'll miss you, VS-1. We had a short relationship but I think it's time I found a girl - uhh - I mean watch with less baggage.
