Great for Mom's Day,
By
This review is from: Momma Loves Her Little Son (Hardcover)
Customer review from the Amazon Vine™ Program (What's this?)
John Cash released a book that is perfectly in timed for "Mother's Day". The book is about the boundless unconditional love that a mother has for her son. It depicted many ways where mother and child shared their time together or dreamt together (like walking him across on top of the rainbow). It shows how mom is always ready to come by his side whenever he needs her. Mom will always be there to guide his early steps or to give him a hug when he is sad. Illustration: Marc Burckhardt's art & illustration is refeshing, with colors that just pops up from the pages, something that can easily get impressed to a child's mind. It is simple but unique, and not crowded with unnecessary things. The material used for the book is superb. The textured pages are thick and sturdy.

***Tissue Alert!*** "Momma Loves Her Little Son", is a very endearing book that beautifully captures the unending love that a mother has for her son. The words are rhymatic and reads like a song which is perfect for young learners.
Mr. Burckhardt's illustrations enhance the book exceptionally well. They are vivid like a child's dream and are georgous in both color and design. Children will have fun hunting out all the items in each and every picture as you read them the story. This book is a must for young mothers everywhere and is just in time for Mother's Day!!

Everything about this book is beautiful. The illustrations and the words to go along with them are wonderful. This book is too perfect of a gift for any mom who has a son. My son enjoyed reading it and oogled over the pictures as well. there are oceans, skies and so much more. Definitely a good buy.

"Momma Loves Her Little Son"
by John Carter Cash (Simon & Schuster, 2009) --------------------------------------------- A children's picturebook written by John Carter Cash, the son of Johnny Cash and June Carter Cash, two members of country music royalty. Up 'til now, John Jr. has pursued their legacy mostly through producing albums such as tributes and posthumous releases; here he distills what were apparently nursery rhyme-like tidbits his mother used to say or sing to him. The artwork by Marc Burckhardt is perhaps the strongest element of this book (he has also painted a few album covers, including June Carter's "Wildwood Flower" album) being bold and colorful. I'm not sure the same is entirely true of Cash's text. Although it is meant to rhyme, it doesn't feel like it does, and the meter it often hard to track. The appeal of the book is also limited to mother-son relationships (making it a nice mother's day present, perhaps, but daughters are left in the cold...) and by the religious theme that's introduced at the end (in the obligatory kid's book sleep scene, they take time to pray... Again, for the right families, this isn't a problem, although some families might be put off by it.) This book is certainly a reflection of the Cash family's values - family bonds, positive thinking, religious faith. But in some ways it also feels like a private text, a personal reminiscence rather than a more general kid's book. It's certainly worth checking out, and for some readers, I'm sure it will ring true. My 2-yr-old is completely & totally his papa's son. I bought this book because I put him to bed & read him bedtime stories. This story just reinforces the fact that he's my son & how much I love him. He loves looking @ the illustrations & he listens intently. I think I love the book more than he does!!!

Sweet book, not a fan of the mention of praying/prayers,
This review is from: Momma Loves Her Little Son (Hardcover)

This is a very sweet book, with a loving message. The illustrations are nice and my son did enjoy the book though it is not one he has ever picked up to read again nor have I. What I did not like about this book is the mention of praying/prayers. If you are buying a book in a store you can flip through it and see that and make a decision if the mention of praying is appropriate for you and your family. When buying a book online you really can only find that out via reviews. I personally do not like the mention of praying in a childrens book for my son so when I read it to him, I just skipped that part. Otherwise, this is a nice yet short story of the love between a mother and son.

Enjoyable, but mom likes it better than the kids do,

This is a good book with very good illustrations. Both of my kids (2 & 5) enjoyed it, but their mother enjoyed it more. It was good for a few readings, but the kids do not consider it a favorite and that is why I can only give it three stars.

Excellent book for both moms and sons,

The book reinforces the idea of mother's patient and unconditional love for her son. More than not, sons are insecure. And mother's love wraps around the son securely, becoming the son's security blanket.
When the book is read together: (1) A mother will strengthen herself to love her son more and (2) A son will become more convinced that his mother loves him. The book's illustration is rich in color and the details are excellent. Overall, highly recommended. Perhaps, in the future, it will have: "Momma Loves Her Little Daughter," and "Daddy Loves His Little Son/Daughter" series.

This book is filled with wonderful illustrations and shows the loving relationship between mother and son. It is heart warming and something that adults will love probably more than their child when reading it!
