It always falls to the side.

The orange portion is independent of the white part, which means it spins when you screw on the cap, which means the straw is always off center from the handles.

Edited August 16th 2010:

I just bought one of these and I think I am in love. Finally, a straw sippy the boy can't use to shake juice out onto the carpet! Basically, the soft straw ends in four points that curve together to form a nub-like closure at the end, which operates much like a valve. So, the boy has to bite down on the straw to open it. (I notice another poster disagrees with my description, so I have revised for clarity. It is possible to get liquid out without biting by sucking pretty hard to open the four-point valve, but it's only a tiny dribble compared to what one gets by biting down on the straw. I tried it myself. If the poster's sippy came with a straw that had only an ordinary straw end, either it is defective, or they have dramatically changed the design since I bought mine and Amazon should revise the picture, which still shows the nub-like ending I describe.)

At any rate, if the boy upends the sippy and tries to shake the juice out of the straw, there is not enough pressure on the valve, so it doesn't open and the juice doesn't spill. Genius!! I also like the styling and shape - no matter how carelessly he discards it, it almost always rights itself.

I continue to love this sippy, but I do wish to add: When the pressure balance inside the sippy goes badly off, the liquid inside will bubble up around the interior valve, which is inside the upper part of the cup. So, we have had a few instances of leaking around the top edge of the cup since I posted my review. It's only happened three times - once when the kid left the darn thing in the sun for just ages (and the contents got warm and expanded), and both flights when we took it on a plane trip.

I don't know if I got a defective one, but mine had major leakage so I would not recommend anyone get this. The Combi one is much better! I like the fact that it holds 9 oz. vs. the Combi one which only holds 6 oz. I believe, but that's about the only plus. You're going to get some amount of leakage from any cup with straw design if a toddler throws it or flips it upside down so I expected some leakage when thrown. But it was not leaking from the straw. It was leaking from the side just when my 18 month old would tilt it slightly to drink from it. I tried several ways of tightening it...thinking it was user error, but nothing helped. I don't know what the previous reviewer is talking about having to bite down on the straw to get the liquid out. It's just a straw. You just have to suck the liquid out like any other straw. It's not like the Nuby ones where the child has to bite down. IMO, the one's that require the child to bite down on the straw doesn't really teach them how to drink from a straw, although yes, better for leakage. But my son never liked the Nuby ones, and the straw part was short and fat so he thought it was a sippy. Waste of money again. So back to the Momma Rocking Cup...I only gave it 2 stars instead of 1 because it has a super cute design. Don't waste your money on this expensive one! For his milk, we ended up using the Combi cup with straw and the Foogo thermos with straw.

This is the only Sippy Cup my son will drink from. He loves it!

The only problem I have found is that it sometimes leaks, and sometimes it doesn't..weird..but its still great!

I REALLY wanted to love the straw sippys.

I purchased one, and it was love at first sight with my 11 month daughter. She never flinched at the transition from bottle to sippy. I then purchased 2 more. After a week of washing (by hand with method dish soap) the print came off the cup. That wouldn't normally bug me but I was still trying to monitor how much milk intake she was getting.

The company has great customer service, they gave me 2 additional cups at no cost. THEN the straw silicon stared to break apart at the top. There are more design issues with these cups I could go on. Zoli bot is MUCH better!

I like this cup a lot. My daughter took to it as soon as we introduced it around 7 months. The handles are perfect for an infant. The only issue I have with the cup is that it is a little tough to clean around the area where the straw goes into the cup. (Edited to add -- Now that I've tried other straw cups, I realize the cleaning difficulty is just inherent with all straw cups.) Also, the roly-poly nature of the cup is a little silly, although it is an extremely attractive cup.

We've never had any leaks ever.

I chose this sippy cup because it's super cute, and is made of safer plastic. That's where the good ends. Unfortunately this thing leaks like crazy. The craziest part about it leaking is that it drips out the top of the straw when it's just sitting (unused) by itself sitting upright. I can watch the liquid actually coming up and out of the top of the straw and puddle on the counter, floor, wherever. I don't know if we got a defective cup or what, but it's a total waste and we're sending it back to Amazon.

I purchased one of these cups it worked at first but after a few weeks it started to leak from bottom. I thought it may have been just that one so I ordered another and a few weeks later same thing happened again . In my opinion this cup has a serious falut that needs to be addressed .
