Too Many Secrets,
By
This review is from: Momma's Baby, Daddy's Maybe (Paperback)
The title, Momma's Baby, Daddy's Maybe, is a catchy title that could lead a reader to believe that the unknown paternity of a child is the issue. However, Momma's Baby, Daddy's Maybe, Jamise L. Dames' debut novel, offers much more of an intricate storyline than the title indicates. The Jacobs siblings, Simone, Derrick and Kennedy, have always been there for each other since the [end of life] of their parents as children, but when it comes to their relationships, they keep to themselves. Why all of the secrets, why can't they be forthright with each other?Simone is at the top of her game in the corporate world but her lover, Nigel, has a deep dark secret; Kennedy is a single mother and graduate student that can hold her own with the best of them and her child's father, Jared, is a force to be reckoned with when it comes to absentee fathers. Are Kennedy and Jared over each other? Brother Derrick is a man that will not commit until love comes surprisingly knocking at his door and thrown into this mix is best friend Miranda and the issues that plague her relationship. Together, these siblings fight their way through a myriad of life issues. Momma's Baby, Daddy's Maybe is a fast paced novel filled with secrets, facades, lust, sadness, shame and love. Readers' curiosity will be piqued because of the entanglements formed and the resolutions of the intertwined story. Filled with passion and emotion, the plot is intriguing and will beg you to continue reading until the last page. Kudos to Jamise L. Dames for a very good, plot driven and engaging read. MOMMA'S BABY, DADDY'S MAYBE is a great debut novel by Jamise L. Dames. She has skillfully written a high-impact drama about the Jacobs Family: Kennedy, Simone, and Derek. These siblings bring new meaning to the word drama.Kennedy is a smart and beautiful single mother. She doesn't allow anything to stand in her way of obtaining love and happiness. As the story unfolds, Kennedy is faced with tragedy in all areas of her life. How she deals with them, shows her real strength. Simone is an attractive VP at one of the nation's top accounting firms. She has it all when it comes to business. Her love life appears to be on the right track, until the unexpected happens. Simone, as the oldest, has always been the caregiver to her two siblings. Will she recognize the need for help and allow her family to care for her through her latest trial? Derek is a handsome Wall Street exec and every woman's dream man. He's hiding something from his family that can possibly not only destroy him emotionally, but one of his sisters. Derek learns that he must be true to himself and his family in order to achieve the kind of happiness he's seeking. Ms. Dames exhilarating story shows how the lack of communication can cause all kinds of havoc in one's life, especially when dealing with family. In MAMA'S BABY, DADDY'S MAYBE, the Jacobs were able to pull through their individual drama's and love each other in spite of life's complications.

Momma's Baby, Daddy's Maybe is the start of Baby Momma's Drama like no other you will ever read. This was a fast pace moving story with character's you'd enjoy reading about. It was a story of love , lust ,secrets, betrayal, and heartaches because of mistrust and fascades. Secrets you would not believed that was revealed in the end. Three wommen, Three men, and the truth. This is spicy and sexy moving story you have got to read. Simone, Kennedy, and Miranda. Great job and I will be looking forward to seeing one of the major book publishers picking this one up real soon. I feel Dafina (Kensington )would certainly love this one.

I am an avid reader and I must admit that this book is as good as it gets. For all of you that have read "Addicted", then you should read this as well. This author has taken six different characters and delivers you their drama from beginning to end. There is no wondering at the end what happened to this or that person or why was this part included. Not here. This book has many different emotional times. At times you want to cry and at times you feel like screaming you go girl! Don't you fellas out there think that this is just for the ladies because Ms. Dames put some issues out there for you too. All I have to say is Jamise keep all the good work and I will make sure everyone I know read your book. I can't wait for your second novel.

This book was really great. Don't be fooled by the title. I was, that is until I read the book. It was not at all like I thought it would be. There were so many turning points in the book that you wouldn't see coming...just when you thought you had it figured out....which made a interesting read. Without telling what the book is about, I must say that there was a strong bond between the siblings and that made it all good. Its good when siblings can and will stick together no matter what forces of life are thrown.I read the book in 3 day. Mrs. Dames' first novel was a great hit with me and I can't wait until her second novel, "Pushing Up Daisies" is released. Enjoy!

I read this book straight through when Hurricane Isabelle ripped through my city. Here I was stuck in the house with no power, water, or gas. It was hot, the food in my fridge was spoiling fast and I had been informed that the power would not be on for another month.
Luckily I keep candles just for instances like these. I lit up enough candles for me to read comfortably and dug into the book. I went through page after page and my only regret was that I finished it the same day! I simply loved this book. Jamise takes you on a journey of up's and down's. She will have you laughing, crying and wishing that the book could keep going on. Nikkea "Auset" Lewis

The title Mama's Baby Daddy's Maybe makes you think that this is a baby momma drama book. It is MUCH more than that. This is the story of three siblings. Derrick, Kennedy, and Simone. Derrick is in love with a "woman" named Courtney that he can't bring home. His two sisters can't figure out why she is such a secret. Simone, a meticulous and intelligent woman, finally lets the love of her life Nigel move in with her only to see the abusive side of him come out and he almost costs her her life. Kennedy is in a whirlwind romance with the President of her sister Simone's acounting firm and has to keep things on the hush because Simone has forbade her siblings to date her coworkers after Derrick cost her her last job. Kennedy gets pregnant and doesn't know who the father is. She also finds out exactly what the father of her child is and who Derrick's secret lover is. This book made me angry at times, I was hot reading the sex scenes, and I couldn't put down this book because it was tooo good!! Drama, Lies, and Scandal!! Go get this book Now!

This review is from: Momma's Baby, Daddy's Maybe: A Novel (Paperback)
My name is Tasha and I am currently residing in Wellesley, MA.I absolutely loved this book! I wish I was able to give this book a higher rating. I work in a very busy hospital in Boston, and the day one of the girls brought this book in, all of our patients were put on the back burner... We could not put this book down!!! By the time my shift ended I had finished the book. Never in my life, had I gone through so many emotions like I did that day! As soon as I got out of work I went straight to the book store to buy the book and spread the word. As a result of reading this book we (family/friends) have started a book club...(BWBC), but cannot find a book that can top this one off! BWBC will be the first in line as soon as Ms Dames' next book is out....

Definitely a good story, had to get to the end to see what happened. Was surprised to some extent, but I did have some of the twists figured out before I actually read them. But when you read as many books as I do,that isn't too hard to do. I was impressed with the book overall, especially since it was Ms. Dames' first book. I will certainly read her second book, Pushing up Daisies, which I hope is coming soon. Although I do think someone should have done some proof reading, I won't blame that on the author. My hat is off to you Ms. Dames, and I advise anyone who is just thinking of reading Momma's Baby, go ahead, you will enjoy it.
