Book Description

April 22, 2004
MOMMY, COME HOME is a compassionate, yet compelling plea for all mothers to embrace their God-given vocation to full-time motherhood. Today when homemaking is viewed as archaic and counter-culture, it takes courage to fulfill our role as mother to the fullest extent. In this present ‘culture of death,’ full-time mothering is our most generous opportunity to form the conscience of our children’s vulnerable minds.

Author Sandra Gillmore shares from personal experience on concerns of loneliness, boredom, home schooling, home business, in-home and family childcare, and financial obstacles. She concisely covers these topics and the tough times that can go with them keeping in mind the hopes and hearts of all mothers.

Society says the home isn't the ‘real world’, but Sandra points out that what is real within our families becomes real within our world, giving our homes the potential to spur a world-wide revival one family at a time.

From the Author

Mommy, Come Home is my love letter to all moms! I've heard you stress-out on the soccer fields. I've seen you cry at church from the pressure. You told me I was lucky I could stay home. I've tried to console you through the rat race. I've prayed for you. But I never wanted to hurt your feelings. I never had the courage to tell you what was on my heart through the Holy Spirit's leading. The message of Mommy, Come Home is that God is calling each mother to embrace her vocation to motherhood. This is your call that no one else can replace as God intended. (Not even grandma or daddy.) You have been given special gifts to share with your children in a most generous way. This world is not family-centered. The world wants to pull you away and make you too busy to effectively mother your children. Picture yourself ordering your favorite dessert in a restaurant only to have the waiter bring you one small bite! Wouldn't you want more? 'But it's the highest quality of this dessert on the market, 'the waiter tells you. Our children want and need more - not more stuff - more of our time. There is a way out of this madness. You have a choice.

4.0 out of 5 stars A Great Read, September 6, 2007
This review is from: Mommy, Come Home (Paperback)
One of the hardest decisions we as mothers have to make is whether or not to stay home for our children or be in the workforce. (If we have that option being married.) Thought provoking and to the point. The benefits of being home and perhaps working from home as well to be there for our families is truly great. Mrs. Gillmore says it all. I recommend this for every mother whether you work outside the home or not.

4.0 out of 5 stars Mommy, Come Home, September 10, 2004
This review is from: Mommy, Come Home (Paperback)
Having known Sandy for many years, I can tell you that she has a wonderful family, and has been a trusted friend for over 8 years. This book is very refreshing, and I wouldn't hesitate to give it as a baby shower gift to new mom's or any mom who is thinking of staying home to take care of her children rather than working. This book is an easy read, which will entertain you as well as challenge you to follow your heart.

Clearly Sandra's book is genuinely written from the heart. Her writing style brought her thoughts, advice and experiences to life in a way that made reading it almost like a conversation. This seems like the "right book at the right time". Many are finding that the agenda of the militant activists is actually not fulfilling and rewarding. Sandra's workable alternative may well reach those who are looking for a realistic alternative.
