Editorial Reviews

From Kirkus Reviews

"In Hack's latest thriller (Cassidy's Corner, 2013, etc.) a detective faces off against a dangerous killer desperate to find the mother who abandoned him years ago. Pitied or not, Frankie is a terrifying killer as he goes through a list of 32 females who resemble his mother....a mesmerizing killer makes this story a triumph."

The judge in the Writer's Digest 21st Annual Self-Published Book Awards commented on Cases Closed as "...a prime example of a well-written mystery and suspense novel by someone who knows how the system works. This is the third book I have read by Henry Hack and I have loved them all. This one is somewhat different from the others but it is certainly a page turner. You can empathize with each of the characters even though some of them have done some really terrible things or have suffered themselves because of some of the injustices they had to endure at some point in their own life. It just points out that life isn't always what you would want or expect it to be.

I hope Mr. Hack writes another book soon as I will certainly want to read it. I think he is very creative and a good story teller.

Henry Hack has another winner with Mommy, Mommy. His latest Danny Boyle novel follows the detective over many years, beginning with his investigation into the death of James Chandler. When Chandler's wife, Angela, abandons 9 year old Frankie, Danny becomes the only stable person in his life. One tragedy after another befalls Frankie, changing the innocent child into a sad, vengeful man. You'll want to zip through the book to learn the ultimate fate of Frankie Chandler.

A great book. I read it quickly cause I just couldn't put it down. Mr Hack switiches back and forth between his characters effortlessly as you, the reader watch the creation of a monster. Sad, sad commentary on a system that is supposed to protect our children. Frankie is a serial murderer that I acually felt empathy and sadness for. Danny Boyland is on the "come back" trail and trying to teach the hard learned lessons about life and the job to his new, young partner. He's doing all of this while getting reaquaintted with his kids, trying to find some peace with his ex wife, building a new marriage AND searching for a murderer. Great read and recommended for anyone who wants to take a deep breath and not let it out until the end of the book.

It was okay. The first half of the book kept me interested and turning the page. The second half was too predictable. Adding all the detectives, police, etc., backgrounds and side stories didn't seem to add to the story. I understand character development but I kept thinking, where is this going and what does it have to do with the main plot? The thing that bothered me the most was the dialogue. It seemed very amateur.

This is my first novel written by Mr. Hack. This is truly spellbinding. Although the story switches from character to character, it is done in such a way that it enhances and does not distract from the building drama. I will be reading more of this author's offerings.

I enjoyed the overall storyline. However the amount of abuse was over the top. I understand some children go through this but if i knew this upfront I may not have read the book. I enjoy good detective stories and often skimmed through some chapters.
