4.0 out of 5 stars Works but battery life is poor.
This child locator works well and performed exactly as expected. My 4 year old called it his "teddy bear beeper" and loved wearing it. Most importantly, he also understood what it was for, meaning if it beeps he knew that Mom and Dad were looking for him. So during our trip to Asia, we actually did lose him in a very crowded store. 3.0 out of 5 stars Bear with me.
We bought this little bear to help me keep up with my little guy at Disney. We could use it on the days he wore shorts with cargo pockets. On the days he didn't have cargo pockets, we had to leave little bear at home. Bear is kind of bulky and while the idea is good, the mounting system is not so good. I activated the transmitter and was able to hear the beep. He was 2 aisles down from where we were and he ran out looking for us. The teddy bear receiver uses 2 CR2032 (flat discs) batteries; the transmitter uses one A23 12 volt battery. These batteries are not cheap. The 12 volt battery in the transmitter was dead when it arrived. During the trip, it lasted only about 3 days without even being used. I'm giving it a pretty good rating only because it worked well in a real life situation.

We bought this little bear to help me keep up with my little guy at Disney. We could use it on the days he wore shorts with cargo pockets. On the days he didn't have cargo pockets, we had to leave little bear at home. Bear is kind of bulky and while the idea is good, the mounting system is not so good. You have to make sure your child is wearing shoes with shoe strings or shorts with a belt or big pockets. Can't wear crocs and the bear--or velcro shoes. The beeping sound is not as annoying as I wish it would be. We heard a beeping sound but it sounded like a cell phone--my girls were pressing the button to annoy their brother (which didn't even bother him). Would I buy again? I guess I would but would make sure to only pack cargo shorts or get some shoes that tie. If they made little bear smaller and more streamlined, I'd be even more likely to buy.

5.0 out of 5 stars Works Great and So Convenient!, March 8, 2008
I looked at all child products to help with keeping track of an active 3 year old (grandson) for a recent Disney trip. My daughter wanted nothing to do with any of the products that she felt were "like a dog on a leash" so I looked for something else. This product was perfect! My grandson liked it on his shoe and even though he was never out of sight it was nice to know we had it. My daughter kept the locator on her belt loop and we actually used it a couple of times when our parties got separated to find one another (via my grandson's shoe)! We never tried to check the distance per the manufacturer's claim, but I would guesstimate it to be correct. A few people actually questioned us about it and thought it was an excellent idea. (Of course we only purchased this for the just in case...we kept him close by at all times - this unit does have a turn off switch on the bear) Worth the money and would definitely purchase again!

Bought this for use with my 3 year old son. We are traveling to Buenos Aires for a visit with my wife's family and some tourism. My wife and I keep our son under careful watch constantly but it is always good to have a backup just in case we both have a brain freeze. The receiving unit is hard plastic and looks sturdy. The bear is realtively large (I thought it was going to be a little smaller and soft for some reason). Putting on a shoe or a belt adds some weight and is noticeable by the child. It has a hard plastic loop in the back of the bear. A belt can fit through it or presumably a velcro strap for a shoe. Laces would not work so well...and there is no other way to secure it to your child. I guess you could put it in a coat pocket or something like that. The range is decent. If your kid is beyond the range you should be arrested for being stupid and letting him get that far away from you.

Two problems. The noise is pretty loud and piercing. Scared the you know what out of my kid. He is not good with noise and freaks at the daycare fire drills...so keep that in mind. But..a loud annoying noise is what you want..but be prepared.

Also whoever designed the remote needs help. It is large..and bulky. Well made but big. The problem is the button. It is unprotected and can be accidently triggered if it is in your pants or purse and you or something whacks the button...and then you have a false alarm and in my case...a kid freaked out for no reason. I wish it had little ridges around it like some car remotes have...to reduce the number of accidental false alarms. Simple design change..

For the price it does the job. Well made. Cheap. Noisy and effective for what it does. Just be careful reaching in your pocket at that quiet restaurant ...your kid could go off like a fire alarm.

Hello. I was looking for something for my wheelchair bound mother to use when I am outside. I take the bear and she keeps the button. If she needs me, she presses the button. Much cheaper than items designed for this purpose for the elderly/disabled. Works great.

5.0 out of 5 stars Excellent device, April 29, 2009
No complaints here, I just wanted to add that you can get a better price (2 locators for the price of 1) through Costco's website and you don't need a membership to buy it.

This review is from: Mommy I'm Here cl-103pk Child Locator, Pink (Tools & Home Improvement)
I purchased this product in pink for my 3 year old daughter and in brown for my 5 year old son. We were taking our first "real" family vacation in Disney World during their peak season and I was worried about "losing" my children in the crowded parks. The first day my son couldn't wear his monitor because his sneakers had velcro straps that were too wide to fit the monitor. My daughter's velcro straps fit, but the monitor kept falling off when she walked so I put them in my back pack decided to try them the next day. The next day I tried attaching them to their sandles and my kids complained they felt too uncomfortable when they walked because their sandles were open and they could feel the monitor touching their feet. After finally convincing them to wear the monitor we went to the Magic Kingdom. The monitors went off automatically as soon as we got on the monorail. Then they went off during the first few rides we went on. Finally, they automatically went off in the middle of a live musical show. I removed the monitors from my kids, took them back to our hotel and put them in my suitcase for the rest of our vacation. I am planning on returning them ASAP. I had told all my friends about these monitors when I purchased them and most were going to purchase them if I like them. They were a complete waste of money and suitcase space.

5.0 out of 5 stars Extremely happy with this product, June 27, 2007
I am very glad that I ordered this and gave it a shot. It helps to reassure me just in case my son ends up wandering off for even a split second. In my opinion, it beats a leash! My son will feel trusted, as this product is low key and a leash may "tell" him that I don't trust him. Beep is loud...a good thing! Please don't hesitate to give this product a try.

This review is from: Mommy I'm Here cl-103pk Child Locator, Pink (Tools & Home Improvement)
I bought this locator and the one in brown for my two kids. First of all the monitor was supposedly able to fit on a shoe, that didn't work, or you could put it in their pocket. YEA RIGHT. neither of my kids had pockets. And when I tested the alarm, it had to be pointed almost right at my child to get the alarm to go off. The alarm only goes off for so long, then if you try to get it to go off again TOO BAD! I had my daughter take it in to the bathroom and shut the door; the alarm wouldn't sound at all. I was going to send them back, but my kids are using them to play with. You're best to go with something else.

5.0 out of 5 stars A MUST HAVE!!, July 3, 2007
The "Mommy I'm Here" is so cute.
This product is well made & so well worth the investment!
It's water & shock resistant, reliable & very user friendly.

We first purchased a less expensive product, it was a terrible poorly made waste of money. And our 2yo son was scared of its bug shape.

It only takes a second for your little one to disappear. You always have to watch your child but with this product you can find them quickly.

If you have an escape artist like we do, This product is a must have!!
