5.0 out of 5 stars Excellent Childrens Book October 10, 2009
Format:Paperback
I loved "Why Mommy Loves the State". This book traces the path of a typical girl who grows up and realizes that she can have everything she wants if she can get the government to give it to her. Things start out well as she gains more and more from government intervention. Eventually she comes to realize that any government powerful enough to give you everything you want is powerful enough to take everything you have. I won't spoil the ending, but the book is written with a simple, direct explanation that even a child could understand. It seems rather unfortunate to me that some adults still don't understand the point, but perhaps this book will help.

5.0 out of 5 stars Brilliant satire October 14, 2009
Format:Paperback
Bretigne Shaffer's new book is, well, laugh-out-loud funny for those of us horried by the "Why Mommy is a Democrat" and "Why Momma Loves Obama" political children's books.

The style and look of the book is spot-on satire. And even though I doubt it's seriously intended for kids, it wouldn't hurt at all to share it with the little tykes.

Tremendous fun!

5.0 out of 5 stars Fun Book Pushes Back At Overreaching Government October 31, 2009
By M. Duff
Format:Paperback
This is a fun little gift idea for this Christmas. Give it to your liberal friends for a reminder that government makes nothing - it is the people of this nation, working hard to get ahead, that drives the prosperity we enjoy.
An aside - I love the reviewer that thinks government creates jobs by regulating everything. Hint: they destroy jobs with burdensome taxation and over-regulation. Ignoring the tort process effect on business behavior destroys any kind of case you were trying to make.
