Book Description

Imagine a man volunteering to trade in his game nights for heart burn and back ache. Good thing there are women around to ensure the survival of the species. This hilarious look at the journey from high heels to high blood pressure, as a jet setter turns into a bed wetter, is what your doctor won't tell you and your own mother may have forgotten in the years since she was blessed by your arrival.

At our first meeting my future father-in-law waited until we sat down in the Thai restaurant, the oblong menus placed in our hands and the waiter was a distance away, tending to other diners, before turning towards me, his eyes glowing. This was the first time we were all seeing each other after his son had proposed to me. "When will I get to hold my first grandchild?"

For my father-in-law and everyone else, I have a question of my own: When will any of you be satisfied?

4.0 out of 5 stars Entertaining! December 6, 2011

It's a funny and entertaining journal that takes you inside the upcoming changes of a working women who is about to embark in one of the most important journeys of her life: becoming a mum!
Right now I'm in my first pregnancy (4 months so far...!) and living in Qatar as well as the author of the book so I did identify myself in some scenarios, I would highly recommend it to all the mothers to be and those already with kids, you'll enjoy and laugh reading Mohana's adventures!

4.0 out of 5 stars Informative and Clever March 27, 2012
Format:Kindle Edition
If you're married, recently engaged or even in a long-term relationship the odds are good that someone has asked you the question; "When are you going to have a baby?" The response that always bounced around safely contained in my head was, "When I'm damn good and ready!" It seems so odd that it's okay for people to ask that, as if they're not really asking if you're having unprotected sex often enough to get knocked up.
Mohana Rajakumar has taken blog entries about her path to pregnancy, sewn them together and submitted them as Mommy But Still Me. As a mother myself, I laughed and commiserated with her funny tales of her experiences all throughout her journey, from stubbornly single to eager mother. Anyone who has had a baby can completely relate to the shrinking clothes, the raging hormones and the inconvenient "Mommy Brain" that can attack at whim.
I really enjoyed this book. Mohana's voice is witty and sarcastic, poking fun at all the cultural idiosyncrasies we're all so fond of. If you've had children, you'll love this book and laugh, thanking the stars that you've conquered that particular aspect of life. If you haven't had children, read it too, because it's a humorous glimpse at what you'll be getting yourself into when you do decide to bite that bullet. It's realistic and touching and I highly recommend this cheap read!

5.0 out of 5 stars Enjoyable, honest, very real and funny! December 22, 2011
Format:Kindle Edition|Amazon Verified Purchase
As a mom, I can relate to so much of what Moha writes about in this book. I found myself nodding at many of the essays, particularly the beginning when she was newly married and happy to be enjoying marriage. The pressure to produce a child within seconds of exchanging vows is ridiculous here in the States -- I can't imagine what it's like in more traditional cultures...now I know! Moha shares so many of the ups and downs of pregnancy and motherhood -- it's a refreshing read that's extremely well-written and and extraordinarily real. I recommend this book to anyone contemplating motherhood and even for expectant fathers -- it's a wonderful glimpse into the real world of what we women go through.
