~*~*~*~Worked Wonders for my very FUSSY, GASSY, REFLUX BABY~*~*~,
This review is from: Mommy's Bliss Gripe Water, Liquid, 4-Ounce Bottles (Pack of 2) (Health and Beauty)
I don't remember exactly how old my daughter was when I first started giving her Baby Bliss Gripe water but I believe she was around 2 months, my daughter was tiny, less than 5th percentile at that time.
I had spend MANY nights up all night holding my daughter and I was wearing really thin since I had twins. Several people told me that she was just fussy and that I was spoiling her(you can NOT spoil a newborn) but I knew that she just didn't feel good. I could tell she was screaming in pain. She did get constipated and was in pain from that, she was gassy all the time, she had reflux. I had 1st tried something called Colic Calm which did seem to work but it was very expensive but what I hated the most was that it made my daughter choke, not just choke a little but choke bad, she'd normally gag & spit up because she was choking so much. Plus we hated that it was black, just didn't feel right giving our newborn something that was black and it stained everything. So I ordered the Baby Bliss Gripe Water. Within minutes of giving it to my daughter the 1st time she calmed down. She also did NOT choke. She hated the Colic Calm but would drink this out of a medicine nurser. Anytime my daughter was waking up really fussy or just being fussy throughout the day I'd give her this and soothe her crying. It made me feel so much better that I was finally able to do something to stop her pain and tell everyone who told me she was just spoiled that she wasn't. I have used it for both my twins and it is nice it is lactose free since one of my girls is lactose intolerant. My girls are almost 1 year and I am currently out of Baby Bliss Gripe water but I am getting ready to order more. Wether they are gassy, having reflux, teething or I can't figure out why they are fussy, this always seems to turn my unhappy girls into Happy ones. Also, it is clear and does not stain. I recommend buying several of these because you will use them. Amazons price is cheaper than my local pharmacy. These would make GREAT baby shower gifts! Or if you go visit someone after they have a baby, especially a 1st time parent, I guarantee you that they'll love you for this. Also, if you have a really fussy baby, order the DVD "The Happiest Baby on the Block" it works wonders as well. With Gripe Water & that DVD you'll have a nice way to soothe your unhappy baby in a safe & easy way.

I have been using Baby Bliss' Gripe Water for 5 years now. It is the best for tummy aches, gas, hiccups, colic, teething... I even use it myself when I feel really bloated. My children love it. Now that my oldest is five she always askes for it when she is alittle backed up and is having gas pains. My second daughter had reflux really bad and this definatly helped get rid of excess gas and it also soothed her tummy if she ate something too spicy.
The price here is great. I'm ordering a bunch, because sometimes its hard to find in the health food stores... it seems hard for them to keep it in stock too. Its very popular. FYI... I'm alway leary about giving my kids any type of medicine. I always gave them 1/2 the dose to see it that worked first. It usualy did. Also I waited till they were about 3 months to give them any medicine that the doc didn't perscribe. You have to remember just because something is natural or organic doen't mean its necessarily safe... it still is medicine.

A natural cure that works!,
By Gripe water worked great to cut down on the crying. She still had some gas and hiccups, but it did not bother her as much. Baby's Bliss works as well as the Wellements organic gripe water. I bought both to compare and would fully recommend either to anyone who wants a natural cure for colic. One thing to be aware of- do not give your child too much gripe water in a short span or she will cry even more. We found every six hours did the trick. Eventually it became once a day. Now at 5 months, we hardly need it anymore.

We'll keep this review brief. We're usually against applying chemicals of semi-unknown origin or a concoction of items to ourselves, let alone a newborn. Yet, we had to admit, that it did assist our infant from two months through her fourth with gastric distress. It has a nice flavor, the ingredients are easily identifiable, and -while slightly pricier than generic versions or competitors' items- safer. There were no after-effects, side-effects, or whatnot. Our child, usually within 15-20 minutes of the intake of the specific dosage (already enscribed on the box and elsewhere; it's hard to miss, and virtually any applicator including a regular slow-flow nipple will let it flow through just fine) drifted off to sleep as she visibly showed comfort. A nice belch or three was let out, perhaps a huge diaper-full of goodies the next morning, but fairly safe and VERY conservatively used. We had purchased two bottles of the product, but found that we needed just half of one.
Be aware that after a few weeks after opening, you should dump it out. I'd think that if someone were to apply this every time the baby whimpers, it may not have the desired effect. However, play it safe, understand that it's an over-the-counter item, set your standards at a reasonable level, and use with caution.

I'm SO GLAD my husband happened upon an article talking about gripe water (baby's bliss)! Our 3 week old would get really fussy around 11:15 every night and she'd scream for at least an hour. I'd be crying along with her because she was in pain and there was nothing I could do, she'd be straining but just couldn't seem to pass the gas she had trapped in her little tummy. I tried this for the first time last night, I just mixed the dose right in with her formula and she never knew it was there. After feeding when it normally takes me 15 min to get her to burp she burped every time we took a break with no problems! After she was done eating I could hear the gas rumbling around in her little tummy and I held my breath anticipating the screams, she just looked at me smiled and pooted the loudest poot ever! Granted she was passing loud and stinky gas for a while it wasn't trapped in her little tummy! I would pay 10x the amount I paid for how well it worked! This product has TRULY saved mine and my husbands sanity!

I bought this because my 1 week old daughter would wake up out of her sleep screaming. Soon after I would hear the loudest gas rumble throughout her belly, fart, or poop and she would be fine until the urge came again. The box said that it was for babies 2 weeks and older but I just couldn't stand to see her in this condition so I gave her only 1/4 of a teaspoon. Wow!!! It worked in less than a minute. I put it right into her bottle with 1 ounce of milk (breast). She sucked it down with a few funny faces, as if she knew it was in there, and was feeling fine. She was probably able to sleep within 10 minutes but the screaming stopped instantly. The package says that it is supposed to work within 5 to 20 minutes I believe, but it worked quicker for us. Just be careful if you get the apple flavored one. When I was researching the product, I found that there was a recall on it. I haven't used that flavor, I kept with the the original one. Hope this helps!!!

So, we got some Baby's Bliss and it worked - but it sure was expensive. Amazon's price is about half what they charge in the local grocery, and it is still expensive. The active ingredients are fennel and ginger.
So I made a very strong decoction of herbs in the Microwave - 1 tbsp ginger, dried and powdered, and 2 tbsp fennel seed, and 1tsp cumin cumin and 1 tsp cardamom and 1 tbsp coriander, all whole except for the ginger. 1 stick licorice chopped up. I put it all in the microwave with 2 cups of water, and heated it on low for 15 minutes, let it cool, then filtered it through a double layer of paper toweling. This is much stronger than gripe water you buy, 4 drops seems to be enough. And it can be used to flavor your tea if you don't want to give it to your baby. But if you don't want to make it or don't trust yourself to make it, this brand seems to work. Our little grandbaby burps and spits up and cries. Even mylicon drops don't stop it, whether we put them in her formula or give them to her straight. A dose of gripe water, or a few drops of my recipe, and two things happen. First, the baby burps and does not spit up. Secondly, the baby's tummy relaxes. You can put your fingers on her tummy and feel it is not tense.

Just started using this today. My 2 month old usually starts crying around 7PM and goes for hours and has tons of gas & irregular (goes 2-3 days)bowel movements. During an early crying jag, I gave him 3/4 tsp at 6PM and he (loved the taste) fell asleep w/in 10-15 min. Tonight at 10PM he started fussing & crying so I gave him another dose. He burped after 15 min. & had a bowel movement 15 min. later. I'm now convinced of this products effectiveness.
