Fish-oil softgels are good, but a little hard to swallow, December 27, 2007
This review is from: Mommy's Bliss Omega-3 DHA Plus Fish Oil, 60-Count Softgels (Health and Beauty)
I'm pregnant now and have been taking fish oil supplements for about a month now. I picked these pills because they come from smaller, low-mercury fish. The pills themselves are small, and you only need to take one a day, which is great. They are kind of round (instead of oval), and I have a little bit of trouble swallowing them (harder than my pre-natal vitamin), but they are not too bad. I just ordered another supply.

Work well for me..., October 18, 2007
This review is from: Mommy's Bliss Omega-3 DHA Plus Fish Oil, 60-Count Softgels (Health and Beauty)
I bought these to take along with my daily prenatal vitamin because I read in a magazine that fish oil taken during pregnancy aids in the baby's brain and eye development. I also decided to try this supplement because it had DHA in it as well. The pills are easy to swallow and they don't upset my stomach at all (like some vitamins can during pregnancy) and I never get a "fishy" aftertaste or repetition in my mouth from them (as they advertise) like some fish oil supplements can do to you. I would definitely recommend giving them a try.

only 1 a day, May 3, 2011
This review is from: Mommy's Bliss Omega-3 DHA Plus Fish Oil, 60-Count Softgels (Health and Beauty)
I can't say that I've extensively researched omega-3s and fish oils, but I have tried a few. I will organize my review into pros & cons
PROS
1. Natural source. I strongly prefer natural source supplements Mommy's Bliss is just that.
2. Only a slight fishy taste (as opposed to a strong fishy taste). I have yet to try a fish oil without a fishy taste (especially after I burp), but with Mommy Bliss the fishy taste lasts a much shorter period of time.
3. Small softgel (about the size of a small jellybean). This doesn't matter too much to me personally, but I know some people have difficulty with large softgels. These are small and easy to swallow.
4. Serving size is only one per day. Other brands I've tried require taking them 2-3x daily. I can never remember after the first dose when I take my prenatal multivitamin and calcium so it's great to only need to remember one dose.
CONS
1. Fishy taste as discussed before. While it is significantly reduced as compared to other brands, it's still there.
2. It's a little pricey in my opinion, but worth it.
UPDATE 7/12/11
I have used up my supply of Mommy's Bliss Dha
Mommy's Bliss Omega-3 DHA Plus Fish Oil, 60-Count Softgels and logged on to my amazon account to order some more, but decided to check out what's available since it's been a while since I've compared products and prices. I continue to really enjoy the Mommy's Bliss product, however I ordered another product instead. For one dollar more per month I am going with Nordic Naturals DHA (the larger container is cheaper than the smaller one at this time). Aside from price (really what's one buck anyways!?), the Nordic Naturals (NN) beats Mommy's Bliss (MB) in almost every other category. I will include the content of each supplemented item b/c it is not listed on the ingredient list for Mommy's Bliss and shoppers wouldn't know how to compare the two otherwise!
serving size: Nordic Naturals 2 softgels; Mommy's Bliss 1 softgel
DHA: Nordic Naturals 450 mg; Mommy's Bliss 250 mg
EPA: Nordic Naturals 90 mg; Mommy's Bliss 100 mg
Omega-3 fatty acids: 580 mg; Mommy's Bliss 387 mg
The only real downside I see of the Nordic Naturals is that a serving size is two softgels (of which I will take one in the am and one at supper to spread out the supplement across the day). I really liked only having to take one softgel as with Mommy's Bliss, but I need to start taking a calcium later in the day. I guess now I'll have two things to remember hopefully making them more memorable.
I hope this helps someone who is trying to decide what's the best supplement!
