5.0 out of 5 stars A comfortable way for a toddler to use the potty in an otherwise scary public restroom
I chose this cushioned model over the flat, plastic potty seats because it looked like it was less likely to pinch and would be more comfortable. Going potty in a strange place is already difficult and scary enough for a young potty trainer, I wanted the experience to be as pleasant for her as possible. I've read others' reviews and had to say I was shocked by the bad...

2.0 out of 5 stars Broke in 2 dropping 28 lb 3 yo into toilet water
It broke in 2 at the middle fold dropping my 28 lb 3 yo daughter and the booster into the toilet water in our public library.

We had only used it occasionally for a few months. Until it broke it was very good, soft, secure, portable, and easy to clean, with a nice washable bag to store it in - but I think my daughter will now feel less secure on the potty...

I chose this cushioned model over the flat, plastic potty seats because it looked like it was less likely to pinch and would be more comfortable. Going potty in a strange place is already difficult and scary enough for a young potty trainer, I wanted the experience to be as pleasant for her as possible. I've read others' reviews and had to say I was shocked by the bad wrap it's gotten (regarding collapsing). I don't know that this (or any other, for that matter) potty seat has a "weight limit," but I can't imagine what would make this model more likely to collapse than those thin, plastic folding ones. For what it's worth, my daughter is 25lb and doesn't tend to squirm on the potty. That said, my only experience is with this model potty seat, so read my remarks as food for thought.

SIZE: It is thick, but it can still fit in a diaper bag. It takes the space of approximately six diapers.

CLEANABILITY: This one is very easy to clean; no nooks & crannies for bacteria to hide.

===UPDATE=== [4/18/2008]
YES! We *still* use this item and love it! We're not traveling with it anymore because my daughter is comfortable on public toilets w/out it. By the time she was able/comfortable to go on public pottys and hold on, she was done with her toddler potty and we put this on her toilet at home. (It's just easier/more comfortable for them to go potty with an insert.)

But I have to say... the other day I thought I'd get smart and really CLEAN this baby... I decided to soak it in the tub in a bleach/water mix. Well, the screws in the bottom got rusty. It doesn't affect the function at all, it just annoys me to know I rusted the screws because I wasn't thinking about them.

Bottom Line: DON'T :SOAK: YOUR SEAT IN BLEACH SOLUTION OR THE SCREWS WILL RUST.

2.0 out of 5 stars Looks good on paper..., January 11, 2007

This would be a great idea IF it actually worked well on elongated toilet seats. Most all public restrooms have elongated toilets and I also have elongated toilets at home...doesn't work well at all!!! Slips around and easily. Very unhappy with this purchase. If you only intend to use it on regular size toilets then it's fine. Description of this product should be changed.

This potty seat was great for in other people's homes. However, when we would be out places and they had the more elongated toilets, it collapsed in on my child several times, which scared her to death and was actually a detriment to potty training. I really loved it for at other houses, though!

1.0 out of 5 stars not as good as I hoped, August 11, 2007

This seat was a lifesaver for awhile, but then it snapped into pieces. It is just not that sturdy. Also, I agree that depending on the size of the toliet, it is not always that secure. I am going to buy a full size, one piece non-folding one this time around, put it in a plastic bag and just have more to carry. It may not be as convenient but it is preferable.

I rescued my toddler from a near drop into the public bowl when he started shifting around a little on the seat. It is most definitely NOT secure on the usual public restroom seats. If you put it all the way to the back, the front two sections squeeze in towards each other and if you put it all the way to the front or in the middle, it shifts around just as much. One wiggle too much and the edge will plop into the toilet, along with your kid. :(

I have found this to be the best thing for my son to use the toilet when we are out. He is only 13 months, so is still very small for a regular toilet and it grosses me out to think of him clinging to the sides of a big public toilet anyway. I have had plenty of success on elongated as well as round toilets. The package says to move it all the way to the back if you use it on elongated toilets. Maybe some folks didn't get the position right.
It is a little bulky, but just replaces the diapers in my diaper bag--and I use a pretty compact diaper bag. I deffinately think it was a worthwhile purchase for us.

4.0 out of 5 stars Convenient, Sturdy and Comfortable, October 3, 2006

I have been using this product for 3 months and am very happy with it. My daughter loves her potty seat because she feels comfortable and safe on it. The only drawback would be that it's a bit bulky, but it's able to fit perfectly in my bag. The delivery for the product was on time as well. I would definitely recommend this potty seat.

5.0 out of 5 stars Really like it!, August 11, 2008

I bought this for a trip because I knew my 3 year old daughter was going to be very uncomfortable using public restrooms. We have had great luck with it and I have seen none of the other problems other users mentioned. We used it in numerous public restrooms up and down the east coast on our family trip, and never had a problem with it fitting in any of the toilets. I loved the fact it came in a nice little bag - I took some sanitizing wipes and just gave it a little once over after each use. We haven't had any pinching and the seat has held up well. Afer our trip it became the "back-up" potty seat at home and is used regularly in our upstairs bathroom. I could see it breaking if it was sat on too hard, but I think that's just common sense and not a design flaw.
I highly endorse this product for a traveling family and have told all my mommy friends about it!

5.0 out of 5 stars Have potty can travel!, October 21, 2007

We were looking for a portable potty seat for 2 year old son who is potty training. We are constantly on the go and we needed something that is small, easy to use, clean and works on any toilet. So far so good! It easily fits in a diaper bag or purse and we have yet to find a toilet that it does not work on. It cleans up easily too. My son was a little resistant to using public bathrooms but now that we have this portable potty we have no problems. Give it a try.
