Cute but the design may be flawed,

This frog is adorable but I think the design is seriously flawed. Water comes shooting out the back of the frog on to the wall and then on the floor. If I move it up a little, it sprays out 180 degrees and water goes everywhere. Maybe it is just my faucet that is the problem, but I think it is a standard faucet. I do not have a pull thing for the shower on it or anything. I therefore do not use this as a water diverter but instead put it on the faucet after I have already filled the tub as something to keep by son from bumping his head on the faucet.
P.S. The inside of the the frog head is empty space, which is how the water ends up shooting backwards. If your spout is long enough, maybe you could find a balance between water shooting backwards and water shooting forwards 180 degrees. I don't know.

Very cute, but not very functional.,

I have to say I love the look of this item, however, that is where the love affair stops. There are three major design flaws one should consider before purchasing this item.
First, the material this is constructed of is quite unyielding. In fact I would say that it is not much softer than the metal I am trying to protect my little ones from. Second, as other reviewers noted, the frog's "tongue" presses up against the opening of the faucet which sends a spray of water in every direction (except for actually into the tub). To counter this, you must draw the bath, then cover the faucet. I suppose not everyone will have this problem, but my tub has fairly standard hardware. The third, and possibly most serious drawback, is that it is very difficult to get into the cover and dry/clean out the inside. After a few months of use, I noticed a thick black coat of mildew growing inside. Despite my efforts to keep trying to keep it clean and dry, I just couldn't stop the inside of this thing from turning into a superfund site.

This cute frog spigot cover fits our spigot well and diverts water into our kiddie tub, which is very convenient. It's also fun to watch the water come out of the mouth. The big problem is that there is no hole for the shower diverter. I think I will cut one out so I can keep the cover on full-time.
This worked better than the Boon spigot cover that did not fit our spigot. The Skip Hope spigot cover does not divert water, but it has a hole for the shower diverter.

Doesn't fit well on the spout,

Appears to be too small for the bathtub spout and water sprays out behind it along the wall of the tub. We do not use it.

Great, Daughter loves it, but had to modify...,

My daughter loved this thing out of the box. It's a good strong material that would help eliminate any bumps to the lil one's noggin. The flaws i found were the lack of shower diverter compatibility, as well as pooling of water "under the tongue" - I'll explain later.
Fit on my standard faucet was decent, water does come out in an-almost 180 degree spread, and a little water does pour out the back as well, but not enough to cause any issues. The problem was that we could not divert water to the shower head without taking this off... so... (see pics posted) I drilled a 1/2" hole in the top to accommodate the diverter lever, be sure to mark where you want the hole before drilling. It works, retains full protection and functionality. In regards to the "pooling", what i noticed was an area under the "tongue" there is an area where water (not a lot) can sit, and maybe after a while may get stagnant?? Not sure if i am over thinking it, but just to be safe i drilled a tiny hole on the lowest point on the underside for water to drain. After that i think i have a great product! If it had the holes it would have been 5 stars!

The other reviews say it all. This really is a cute bathtub faucet cover, but it doesn't have a drain in the bottom so mildew can easily grow inside, and it needs to be taken off completely in order to take a shower. Its not hard, just annoying. I am going to drill a hole in the top and bottom to accommodate.

Very cute, but does not stay on!,
This review is from: Mommy's Helper Faucet Cover Froggie Collection, Green, 6-48 Months (Baby Product)
Like other reviews have stated, this is very cute, and I love how the water gently flows from the frogs mouth. BUT, because this spout gaurd has no hole for the shower nob thingy, it does not stay on unless you shove it on with lots of effort, and even then you have to take it off everytme you want to run the shower. =(

Had to cut holes (drill head wasn't big enough)so we could pull the tab up to use shower. Great if you only use tub for bathing kids and never for a shower. We like it, but we had to modify it to make it work with our tub.

I only gave this 3 out of 5 stars because sometimes the water comes out the sides of the froggy instead of the mouth. But it's not everytime.
However, I like the quality and size of this faucet cover. And my son loves it!

Worked ok, had to really twist to get it over the shower pull. This froggie looked nice but it didn't really work that great, unless in the exact right spot water would pour out the back and front. The inside of the froggie's mouth got very gross and moldy, I put it in the dishwasher but that didn't help. I spray cleaned it a few times but gave up after a few months of having to scrub the thing before every bath and STILL not being able to remove all the mold. Faucet covers are great--find one with a better design that is easier to clean and would go over the shower pull easier. |
