Good Idea, Poor Construction,

On the plus side, the suction cup is easy to place and holds firmly.
It is big, sticking out 4 inches from the wall, an inconvenience in a small tub or a shower. When in either of these environments, the big negative rears its ugly head...the part that holds the shower arm is thin and flexible and any bump to the shower head (easy in a tight environment) will cause the "fingers" to flex, sending the shower head clattering to the floor.

They have the right idea, but needs a little more work. The part that holds the shower head needs to be a stronger, less flexible plastic. I have no issue with it sticking out of the wall as another reviewer had said, and you can stop the loose rotating by turning the ring right behind the part that holds the shower head. My issue, however, is the "fingers" seemed to have stretched out over three days. Day 1-3 it held up the shower head no problem, but day 4 the shower head was no longer held securely in place. It is still suctioned firmly to the wall, and the adjustable part is just fine, it's the actual part that holds the shower head. I bought this because our shower head was put about 8 inches above the top of the shower itself, and being just under 5 feet tall, I had a problem reaching it. Also, with the shower head being so high, the water pressure seems to get lost. Again, this worked perfectly in the first few days, but now the grip around the shower head will not hold for longer than a minute or two.

This is so wonderful! Not my little ones can take a shower in the bath tub or a bath, and i have a great place to hang the shower head when not using it. My tub is one of the old ones that has no trus shower so we have been using one of those converter faucets for years now that you screw the shower handheld onto. Now my kids can take a bath or shower and I can move the head to fit their size and if we have company it can be moved to grownup size. I love this!

I purchased the Mommy's Helper Safer Grip Portable Shower Arm from Amazon.com. This item worked very well for about 20 days. As was mentioned in another review, the plastic grip that holds the shower head stretched and now will not hold the shower head. The product addresses a need but unfortunately, the manufacturer did not invest in strong/hard plastic and as a result, the product does not work beyond a couple of weeks. Unless your shower head is weightless, do not buy this item.

Great shower head holder,

This item is marketed to mothers that are bathing their babies.
Well I got it because I have Peripheral Neuropathy and Fibromyalgia. Which means I have severe pain in my feet and lower legs all the time. It hurts too much for me to stand up in the shower; so I have to sit down while taking a shower. With this holder I can place it anywhere I want and place the hand held shower head anywhere I want while I am sitting down. It's price seems a little high for what it is, but; I am glad I bought it and it will make taking a shower much, much easier. So in that respect...it is worth the money to make things easier for me. If you are disabled, or handicapped in anyway; or know somebody that is...this would be of great use to have in your shower.

This product sucks on the wall very tightly, but doesn't hold shower head at all that it kept falling off the wall. Be caution that it might fall right after you shut off the tap water and may bang your child's head.

I bought this for my 5 year old who is starting to shower on her own. It is pretty expensive but I think it is worth it. It sticks to the tile pretty firmly and there's absolutely no screws involved. I am pretty satisfied.
Update: 2010-09-29 It's been a year now and it still works as advertised. I would highly recommend it.

Doesn't hold shower arm!,

I have been wanting one of these for quite some time. It seemed like the perfect item to help my shower loving kids on their way to showering themselves. Unfortuntealy, it does not hold any shower head. We bought 3 different shower heads and all popped out. I looked in Home Depot, Lowes, Target and Wal-Mart... not one store carried a shower arm lean enough to stay put. All of the shower heads we purchased would just fall out, because the tops were too heavy and the holder is very small. As much as I would love to love this item, I wish it specified the "types" of shower heads that it would hold so one would know what to buy... or if they could make different sizes for those of us who are limited to what we find. All in all, I'd rather save my money and let my kids either hold the shower arm themselves, or use the bath faucet.

The shower holder is build solidly and works, but do not leave the shower in it when not in use. One night it scared me half to death because the suction eventually gave out and the holder fell off the wall. It tossed the hand shower I left in it into the tub bouncing around. It created quite a bit of noise which in the middle of the night was unexpected and startling.
The holder can hold the shower in only one position - straight up and down. I was hoping to use it in a different orientation and did not work, but I know this was an odd requirement so I am not marking down the holder for it. Ali Julia Review

My 8 year old loves the shower hand hold spray - but couldnt reach to put back on the top holder. This does the job - making it at the right height so she can stand underneath while able to take out and put back.
This hold pretty good to the wall - good suction. Came off once (minus a star) but quickly put back on. |
