These are great. They work just like they say they will. We even have one door that is less than 3/4" thick and it still works OK on that one even though it isn't ideal.
The problem is that they are so expensive. I was hoping that based on the price there would at least be 2 slide-loks in each pack (since most closets with bi-fold doors have 2), but THERE IS ONLY ONE SLIDE LOCK PER PACKAGE. (I looked for this information everywhere, but there was no indication in the ads as to how many were in each pack.) This manufacturer is making a killing on these things! All-in-all I would still buy more if I needed them. They do give me peace of mind that my little ones can't get into the closets, which is definitely worth a little expense. They also blend in well and since we have only had them a few days, I keep forgetting they are there until I can't open a closet, which is a good thing. I'll definitely be shopping around if/when I decide to buy more, to see if I can get a better price. I'll also probably sell mine on eBay when I'm done with them to make some of the money back.

When searching for an item to prevent my nearly two year old twins from opening the closet doors, I thought this would be perfect. The product should have specified that it does NOT work with metal bi fold doors. I placed the product on the door as the instructions said and as soon as i tried to open the door with it in place (with and without the extra piece to hold it in place) it popped right off! I am sure if the doors were solid wood, it would have worked, but i would not recomend this product if your bifold doors are the older metal style!

I've shopped around in Wal-Mart,Home Depot, ToysRus, BabiesRus and Ace for the bi-fold door lock. All of these stores carry different kinds of locks which will satisfy my requirement but fail miserably on my most important criteria: Once the usage ends don't mar the door or the wall.
All of the other locks are either screw or glue type which when the need is over leave either ghastly holes or glue stains. I don't want to caulk or spend time/money fixing the after shock. All I need is a lock that will be useful for maybe 2 to 3 years and when my daughter gets older, I should be able to remove it easily but while being used, it has to be effective. This lock fits the bill precisely (including the price)!! I've been using it and am delighted. Thanks Amazon! I couldn't have found it any other way!

Folding door lock,

I have 5 children and 2 of them are Autistic (10 years and 12 years) and since they are home from school during summer break, I have been having a hard time keeping them all from snacking all day long. This lock may not look like much, but it really has helped. I did have to remove the slider stick on it, becaue the 2 oldest could reach it too - but it works fine sliding it closed by hand as well.

I bought these to stop my 2 year old from stealing snacks. They work great. I bought 2, one for each door. They are clear so you really don't notice them. One thing not shown in the picture is they come with a little rod that hangs down. This makes it easier for shorter people (me) to slide the locks. It hangs down about 6 inches and you can leave them off if you like.
I would definitely recommend these to friends.

You may need 2 packages,

I purchased this lock awhile ago and finally got around to putting it on my toddler's closet door. I was a bit disappointed to discover that I need 2 packages. You need a package for each fold in the door. Most closets have 2 doors, and therefore 2 folds. I read some other reviewers that were disappointed with the product because it sounded like they were trying to place the product where the doors meet. It won't work that way. They need to be over the fold. The first one worked perfectly, but I only have one door locked. So, here I am back to buy the second.

Works, but make sure your door is 1.25" thick or less!,

Works well, but my bi fold doors are 1-1/4" thick, and the slide-lok is JUST that wide. I had to spray Pam cooking oil on the slide-lok to get it to fit over the door. Since the fit is so tight, I can't use the little plastic handle that it comes with, so I just stand on my tip toes and move the thing with my hands. Not really an inconvenience since it does the job and keeping the baby and cat out of the pantry!

Unlike most reviewers, I did not order these to keep a baby out of my closets - I am using it to keep my four legged feline friends out! One of my cats discovered how to open my closet doors, and would occasionally make it his toilet. This has ruined shoes and made for some offensive odors.
Right out of the box, you can slide it onto the closet door and boom! Works right away. There's no way the door will be able to be opened. It's easy to slide out of the way when you want to open the door, and also a piece of cake to "lock" it again. Even though it's a pricey little piece of plastic, I plan to order more.

We bought two of these to keep our cat from opening the bi-fold doors in our bedroom at 4 a.m. every morning (in order to wake us extra early to feed him). They absolutely work great...there's no way to open the doors until the locks are slid to the side. They are super easy to install, slide from side to side easily and don't mar the paint on the door. We will be buying two more for our daughter's bi-fold doors; the cat has moved his early morning efforts to her room.

We have adventurous kitties who like to get into closets. We have five double-door closets in our house, and they love to get into all of them.
These items are easy to use. The only complaint I have is that the picture is very misleading. It shows a double-door closet needing only one (1) slide lock, which is not the way ours work. The spring mechanism for both sides on our closet doors are at the very end, so to lock both sides, we needed to purchase two (2) items for each closet door. You might want to change that very misleading photo. |
