5.0 out of 5 stars Beyond Excelence, August 22, 1999
By A Customer
If you do not read Momo, you are missing a life changing experience. This book is by far the best book I have ever read. My words can not explain what admiration I have for the author Michael Ende. I simply must tell you to read this book. Stop whatever you are reading and read Momo. You will not regret one moment of it! Good luck, and remember to make time for the ones you love! <3

5.0 out of 5 stars A surprisingly deep and beautiful book for all ages, January 9, 1999
By
Ryan McGinnis (The plains of Nebraska) - See all my reviews
It's very seldom that a book both takes hold of your heart *and* guides you through metaphors to notice something about reality that had previously escaped you. 'Momo' is such a book. Set in a fantasy world that parallels what we would consider ideal, 'Momo' is the story of a special girl observeing and trying to cope with/battle against the slow and unnoticed appearance of an army of grey men -- intent on stealing the free time from all the people in her world. The effects of this time theft is clever and in a way haunting; the world begins to become modernized, looking more and more like our own. To give away any more then that would be to give away the plot; trust me, it's a wonderfull, wonderfull read for adults and kids alike. I rank it up there with C.S. Lewis's "The Chronicals of Narnia".

man i loved this book! i read when i was barely able to have my attention focused on a book with no pictures! yeah. i didn't understand it fully then, and i don't think i ever will. michael ende weaves a beautiful tale of the girl momo and her fight for time. when i read it the first i was borrowing it and thought i'd never see it again. but here it is! probably one of the top ten best books i've ever read, if not number one!

5.0 out of 5 stars The best fantasy Book ever written!, December 16, 1999
This is by far my favorite story. Mr. Ende wrote a children story to read by adults who are missing and appreciating the most important things in life. Read it, this masterpiece will change the way you enjoy life and perhaps will help to realize how the modern life is taking away the most precious and simple things in your valuable and finite time. Mr. Ende was one of the best authors of the century. I regret that such a wonderful book is not vailable in English.

5.0 out of 5 stars I could never forget this book..., December 11, 2002
By
Kenia (New Jersey, USA) - See all my reviews
I read this book when I was very young. I was twelve years old, and I was still back in my country. I remember this story and the impact it had on me, even as a young teen. I remember not being able to put it down. Not the first, second or even the third time I read it. Although I read this masterpiece in Spanish, it still carried the same message. A message about life and how important it is to make the most of it. A message about time, about how we often misuse it, applying it to things that are wasteful and don't have much meaning. It really shows how we can get wrapped up in society and its needs, forgetting what's really important. I loved the characters, the metaphores and analogies, the narrative, the set up. I remember reading chapters over just be able to absolutely comprehend what something meant. Although many think this book is for children, I disagree. Adults should be familiar with this story, for we are the ones that forget what's really essential. I am ready to purchase it and re-read it. Ready to get sucked in it all over again. Ready to cry my eyes out at the end one more time... It is an unforgettable experience... I read it more then 10 years ago... and never forgot...

5.0 out of 5 stars Superb!!! Michael Ende has done it again!!!!!!!!, November 26, 1998
By A Customer
Great!! I am in sixth grade at Velma Hamilton Middle School and I read this book last year at Randall Elementry. Since then, it has been my absolute all time favorite book. I discovered 'The Neverending Story' with the help of April, an understanding librarian, and it was so fantastic I came back for more. I had gone through every fantasy and/or fiction book there and had been in need of a new one. Michael Ende's books are the kind you can read over and over and over again without getting tired of it because every time it still feels brand new. I loved how mysterious the Men In Gray were and the details and descriptions were perfectly marvelous!! I am actually in the process of searching for another copy because the library at my new school doesn't have it, but I made her promise to order them and Miss Weiss doesn't go back on her word!!!!

5.0 out of 5 stars One of my absolute favorites..., January 13, 2009
The first time I read Momo I was ten years old... I still lived in Cuba, and an Argentinian friend (gracias Marina, wherever you are!) of the family gave it to my father as a present, who immediately read it and passed it onto me. I have read all the reviews on this book and I have to reiterate all the wonderful comments made to praise Ende's work. El profesor Hora (Professor Time), la tortuga Casiopea (Casiopea the Turtle), los hombres grises (the grey men)... So many wonderful characters and metaphors... Certainly full of fantasy and wisdom, as many have pointed out, Momo carries a beautiful message in its entirety. It is one of those books that one never gets tired of reading... I love this book, and I highly recommend it as a must read for all, regardless of gender, age or background. A true gem and a splendid classic...

5.0 out of 5 stars Una fantasía muy cierta, January 1, 2007
By
Chisza "Chisza" (San José, Costa Rica) - See all my reviews

5.0 out of 5 stars A timeless classic for children and adults, April 5, 2005
This review is from: Momo (Spanish Edition) (Paperback)
I am so pleased that Momo is available again after being out of print. It is one of my all-time favorites. Read it aloud to your kids or your class. There is so much wisdom in this book and it is a great way to start conversations with children about the true values in life.
While the story in itself might appeal to very young children (amazon recommends it for pre-school children) I think that its beautiful depth would be lost on them. I am positive that the book wasn't written with this age group in mind.
