Book Description

May 1, 2007
Laura Hunter and Jennifer Walker are on-call pediatric nurses and mothers. While answering parents' questions, they realized new parents lack the basic information needed to care for their infants. Moms and dads no longer have the advantage of grandma living next door to share her years of wisdom. They're on their own--and they need help.

This simple guide addresses real-life, basic infant care needs for new moms and dads. Topics range from feedings and bedtime routines to common medical questions. The included instructional DVD gives parents visual step-by-step demonstrations of how to care for a newborn to six-month-old.

Editorial Reviews

From the Back Cover

Because babies don't come with instructions!

This simple guide, written by two pediatric nurses (and moms), will help answer questions and give you the information you need to successfully make it through your baby's first six months.

Find out...
• what to have on hand in preparation for your newborn's arrival
• what symptoms warrant a trip to the emergency room
• how to know if your baby is getting enough to eat
• what to keep in your medicine cabinet to avoid a midnight trip to the pharmacy
• how to get your baby to sleep through the night so you can too

Plus, on the included DVD the authors show you step-by-step how to clip nails, swaddle, give a bath, change a diaper, take a rectal temperature, and more. This easy-to-use book and DVD is like having your own pediatric nurse in your own home. It will give you the confidence you need and help you better understand and enjoy your precious new little one.

5.0 out of 5 stars This Book Should be Mandatory for All New Parents!, June 7, 2007

This review is from: The Moms on Call Guide to Basic Baby Care: The First 6 Months (Paperback)
I cannot tell you the positive impact this book has had on raising our son. My friends and family can't believe how well my son has slept using the schedule in this book. Before reading this book, my son did not sleep at night at ALL! After THREE DAYS he began sleeping 4-5 hours and he has been sleeping through the entire night since he was 8 weeks old. This book should be the definitive guide on how to get your baby to sleep through the night.

Don't believe the negative review of this book stating that you have to let your baby cry it out. That is not what this book is about! It tells you in great detail how to put your baby on a schedule that will make him sleep better and be happier! Babies thrive on a routine and look to us as parents to provide one.

5.0 out of 5 stars The BEST, most CONCISE baby book I've ever read!!, May 20, 2007
By
This review is from: The Moms on Call Guide to Basic Baby Care: The First 6 Months (Paperback)
So many baby care books out there are data overkill with no useful information... You read and read to find answers to simple, practical questions you need NOW to help your baby sleep, know how much to feed, etc. While other books offer roundabout suggestions, this book is an amazing bullet-point list of how to care for your newborn infant!! I know several moms who have used their swaddling technique and blanket whose babies were sleeping through the night before 6 weeks. Thank you, thank you for a wonderful, easy-to-read guide. I highly recommend!

5.0 out of 5 stars The Moms on Call Guide to Basic Baby Care: The First 6 Months, May 15, 2007
This review is from: The Moms on Call Guide to Basic Baby Care: The First 6 Months (Paperback)
I want to thank you so much for writing this book. Since reading and implementing the suggestions my house is a different
place. I went from a child who screamed all the time to a very happy 2 month old. I now have time throughout the day to interact with my two and half year old and time to play with the baby. It is amazing how well your methods to get a child asleep works. I cannot believe the difference. I have been telling all of my friends about the book.
This is great book for new moms and second time moms.
