simple, but inspiring journal/book, March 14, 2006
This review is from: Moms: A Personal Journal (Paperback)
I joined a "MOMS" group (Ministry Of Mothers Sharing) at my church, and we use this "text"/journal for our "class". Considering it's a pretty fast and easy read (what mom has a lot of time on her hands after all??) it's a rather in-depth journaling experience. This is a Christian-based journal, and I highly recommend finding or forming your own MOMS group (purchase facilitator's manual to start your own). It's inspiring to meet other women who feel and experience the same things as you!
But the journal is great even on its own. There are seven "chapters" that touch on: 1)self-esteem and self-acceptance; 2)stress, worries, and anxiety; 3)everyday spirituality; 4)feelings; 5)personal growth; 6)expressing values in friendships; 7)continuing the journey. Each chapter is imbedded with questions and space to journal your answers.
While some of the issues you choose to journal about may be about being a mother, the journal is broad enough for any woman (or man) to use to find better self-understanding in whatever type of life she/he leads. For example, I've found much of my journaling is about my relationship with my husband more than with my kids, but other women in my MOMS group do focus more on their kids. Some focus more on their relationship with their parents. Whatever you focus on in the present may be a different topic than one you would focus on in a few years, so some women take the MOMS class again (or do another journal).
