5.0 out of 5 stars Best Calendar for Families
This is the BEST calendar I have ever had. I started getting this one several years ago and now I won't have anything else. There is room to keep track of the daily activities for 5 people. It can hang on the wall or, with built in magnetic strip, it can hang on the fridge. The included stickers are okay. A lot of them are school related and we are home-schoolers,...

1.0 out of 5 stars Hate the 2010 new "bonus" feature!!!
Yesterday I received the new 2010 version of this calendar. I've been purchasing this particular calendar for over 5 years now. I've loved many aspects of the calendar - the pocket to store tickets, flyers, often-referred-to school papers, the magnetic strip making it easy to hang and the bigger spaces and lines to write lots of information. However, their new "BONUS" feature in the 2010 is a classic case of marketing gone awry. Basically the calendar pages are only 2/3 the previous size. They claim this is an improvement because you only have to write your family members names once for the year. I have always used it to keep track of weekly school goals as well as other things that may be going on for all or part of that week that would take up too much space on each actual day. Now, I don't have that option. Just as annoying, if you use the pocket to store various full sheets of paper, they jut out the side of the calendar looking very unorganized and messy AND they cover the family names section on the bottom half of the calendar. That kind of cancels out the usefulness of even having the family name section for those that use it like that.

I was highly disappointed to find that Avalanche Publishing added this useless "bonus" feature to their Family Planning Calendar as well so now I don't even have an alternate choice to get the same features that have impressed me in the past. Note to Avalanche Publishing: You've lost a loyal customer. Please bring back the calendar in its previous form.

3.0 out of 5 stars New Bonus Feature not Bonus to me, October 26, 2009

This review is from: Mom's Plan-It - 2010 Magnetic Calendar (Calendar)
I ordered this calendar after sending back the Super Sized calendar that was not magnetic as stated in the description. I have been ordering this calendar for years and found that the 2010 version is smaller because of the so called "Bonus feature" on the left side for listing names of family members. This makes the actual date sections smaller than it has been in the past. This is a useless feature to me. The manufacturer should make a supersized MAGNETIC calendar without a spot for family names.

This is the BEST calendar I have ever had. I started getting this one several years ago and now I won't have anything else. There is room to keep track of the daily activities for 5 people. It can hang on the wall or, with built in magnetic strip, it can hang on the fridge. The included stickers are okay. A lot of them are school related and we are home-schoolers, so things like "open house" and "school event" aren't really useful to use. I do like the "doctor", dentist" and "birthday" ones, though, since they catch your attention and keep me from forgetting these things. One especially nice improvement to this year's calendar over previous editions is that you only have to write each person's name one month's worth (5 times) on the tab that sticks out to the left of the dates instead of 5 times for every month of this 17 month calendar. Also, though this is not a new addition, the pocket at the bottom is great! It is the perfect place to stash tickets or flyers for upcoming events.

1.0 out of 5 stars Boo to bonus features!, January 5, 2010
This review is from: Mom's Plan-It - 2010 Magnetic Calendar (Calendar)
I have used this calendar for the past couple of years to keep each family member's activities organized--but this year I have to find a new calendar!! I would search out this calendar each year because it had a big enough pocket for school handouts, etc to store and because of the size of each space for details.
This new version is absolutely HORRIBLE! Not only do the pages not stay up in the clip, the pages are smaller and when I put papers in the pocket, it covers up the names on the bottom half of the calendar.
There was even an duplicate month in the 2009 portion of it. SO disappointed. I am better off with a regular calendar! BOOOOOO!

1.0 out of 5 stars Worst New Design EVER!, January 4, 2010

I have always loved having this calendar. Now it is a curse word in my house! Writing the names on the nice extra pocket is a horrible way to make it. Now when I use the extra pocket it either A. covers the names or B. makes it lopsided because I have to scoot all of the papers to one side. Bring back the old style!

I just received my second Mom's Plan-it calendar. As I flipped through it I realized it is missing half of January, Sept and Oct 2010. I am in the process of getting it replaced now. I loved last year's calendar, but do not like that this one has less space to write.

1.0 out of 5 stars Please bring back the 2009 and earlier versions!, December 9, 2009
This review is from: Mom's Plan-It - 2010 Magnetic Calendar (Calendar)
I have purchased the Mom's Plan-It calendar for 5 years now and cannot tell you how disappointed I am with the new format. I will somehow struggle through 2010 with this version and hope in 2011 the old version reappears. I agree with other reviews that the column to add names each month is nice, not only to add names if your kids are older, but for notes to yourself. Now the column is missing and I feel lost as to how to add important notes thoughout each month. Also, the calendar is narrower. I know the changes were made thinking parents would be happy, but a lot of us liked it how it was. Four moms in my group will not purchase the new version and are trying to figure out an alternative for 2010. Please bring back the old version in 2011!

1.0 out of 5 stars Nice idea, not much thought in the details, December 6, 2009
This review is from: Mom's Plan-It - 2010 Magnetic Calendar (Calendar)
I bought this calendar a couple of months ago - it's a 17-month calendar that runs from August 2009 through December 2010. We've used it since October, but now I'm passing it along to my preschoolers to cut up for craft projects. In two months time, the magnetic strip has completely detached from the back, so it won't stay on the fridge. The plastic clip that holds each prior month's calendar page up doesn't work very well, and older months flip out almost daily. The upcoming months don't lie flat at all (why don't they design with with a spiral binding??) and it just looks sloppy hanging there on the fridge. Besides all of that, the space they give you to write appointments for each family member is MINISCULE. Literally an inch by a quarter of an inch. Lame! Such a neat idea, but so poorly designed, and of poor quality, too. Total junk. (The stickers are cute, though.)

1.0 out of 5 stars Also unhappy with new layout, December 1, 2009
Amazon Verified Purchase(What's this?)
This review is from: Mom's Plan-It - 2010 Magnetic Calendar (Calendar)
I am unhappy with the new calendar too. It's hanging crooked on my wall right now and the only way to get it straight will be to double stick tape it to the wall. The pages are smaller than the calendar itself (but only on one side) and that makes one side heavier than the other. I emptied it out and it still hangs crooked.
If they still have this layout next year, I'm switching.

4.0 out of 5 stars Great Calendar, November 17, 2009

I like this calendar. Plenty of space to keep all the ongoing events, etc. The only thing I don't like is I preferred the stickers from a few years ago, instead of the last 2 years. The others had a lot more different kind of stickers, for example pay bills, coffee date, call, haircut, sleepover etc. They don't have these now, nor a lot more. On the stickers now, they have carpool, game, activity and practice which take up nearly three quarters of the stickers.
