Excerpt: ... CHAPTER II HIGHER CONSCIOUSNESS Students who have not yet experienced the buddhic consciousness--consciousness in the intuitional world--frequently ask us to describe it. Efforts have been made in this direction, and many references to this consciousness and its characteristics are to be found scattered through our literature; yet the seeker after knowledge finds these unsatisfactory, and we cannot wonder at it. The truth is that all description is necessarily and essentially defective; it is impossible in physical words to give more than the merest hint of what this higher consciousness is, for the physical brain is incapable of grasping the reality. Those who have read Mr. Hinton's remarkable books on the fourth dimension will remember how he tries to explain to us our own limitations with regard to higher dimensions, by picturing for us with much careful detail the position of an entity whose senses could work in two dimensions only. He proves that to such a being the simplest actions of our world must be incomprehensible. A creature who has no sense of what we call depth or thickness could never see any terrestrial object as it really is; he could observe only a section of it, and would therefore obtain absolutely wrong impressions about even the commonest objects of everyday life, while our powers of motion and of action would be utterly incomprehensible to him. The difficulties which we encounter in trying to understand the phenomena even of the astral world are precisely similar to those which Mr. Hinton supposes to be experienced by his two-dimensional entity; but when we try to raise our thoughts to the intuitional .world we have to face a state of existence which is lived in no less than six dimensions, if we are to continue at that level to employ the...

5.0 out of 5 stars Monad: The I AM That I AM, February 6, 2000
This review is from: Monad (Hardcover)
This book by Mr. Leadbeater gives us a clear look at the SELF, the GOD SELF of which we are an extension of. Mr. Leadbeater shows us how we as personality are the agent of free will, for the soul, the higher mental vehicle (the Christ Self) and the Monad (the I AM Presence). He clearly explains the fact that we as co-creators with God are constantly imposing our thoughts, feeling and actions upon the elemental essence of the mental astral and physical planes. In the book Mr. Leadbeater and his collegues perform a multitude of experiments in this regard, where they use their clairvoyant vision to see the truly beneficent effects of the freewill releasing positive and loving thoughts, desires and deeds upon the elemental essence of the three corresponding planes. As well they did note the disasterous ultimately boomeranging results of imposing a negative or hateful will/matrix upon such an innocent and serving nature as the the elementals.

"Surely yea are God.", I believe to be just one of the many truly deep and profound truths to be found in this book The Monad. Mr. Leadbeater in this book teaches us about enlightened self interest, not only "to be as wise as serpents and as harmless as doves", but as mature souls to take our altruism in hand. The Monad gives us many great tools to do just that; So visualize a friend and or a loved one recieving the love of your heart, poof! it is done, the elemental flys off to do your will. But think an ill thought or send an agressive feeling and the elemental that forms is then bound by that negativity (much like a curse)and like the loving elemental it must go and seek away to bestow this energy upon our unsuspecting victim. The victim who in the end shall be, through the law of karma, ourselves! The returning negativity greatly compounded by the havoc and negative karma this poor creature creates on its outbound thrust at our intended target and its returning trip back to our very own hearts as the sender. As Leadbeater himself has said, the Light of the Brotherhood shines through the one who trys to help without thought of self. The Monad tells us that that can only be done through the SELF that resides in us all. We of course must have the discernment to know the difference between self and SELF, in that, this book The Monad gives us many coordinates to do so. What I do to you I ultimately do to me, hence the wisdom of the Golden Rule. Dear fellow traveller,I hope you enjoy this enlightening work by Mr. Leadbeater as much as I did. Namaste.
