I felt that this book was an excellent source of information for my children. David Schwartz does an excellent job of breaking down the life cycle of the monarch butterfly. Dwight Kuhn's photograph are excellent and very detailed. This book takes the reader step-by-step through the process of the life cycle. This book is an excellent selection for young readers to see the butterfly and how it grows.

This book is a great book to have in the classroom. I used this for a literacy pack that children can take home and read with their families. Then I give them activities to do with the book so that they can remember the life cycle of the butterfly. This book is very in depth of how the butterfly goes through its cycle of life. It has beautiful photographic pictures that are realistic. This is important for children to see in real life. I am glad that I chose this book to use in my home literacy pack. I had to have an informational book and a fiction book. I felt that this book was the most appropriate one from all the butterfly books. I recommend this book to all teachers.

I have bought all the butterfly books. This 6"x9", 16-page book has beautiful photos and brightly colored pages with only about a third of the book being text, a fourth grade reading level. It chronicles only one life cycle of the Monarch from egg to metamorphosis. No information is given about flight paths, multiple generations of yearly migration, helping stave the decline of population or effects of pesticides.

fast shipment. Purchased for an adult gift, not realizing it was for a child. Gave to my great granddaughter who is in the first grade and she was delighted as her class is studying butterflies
