Aidan McInnis, a young, straight-laced pilot from Boston likes structure, so he is woefully unprepared when a series of personal upheavals deposits him in the heart of unconventional and uninhibited Key West, Florida. As his new life evolves to be increasingly bizarre and unpredictable, he finds an improbable mentor in the eccentric, self-styled Monarch of the Conch Republic, Louie Robideau. Over the course of a year, Louie and a colorful cast of locals help Aidan grow past the man he was raised to be and into the man he always wanted to be.

About the Author
D.M. Paule is just a run-of-the-mill engineer/ corporate controller/entertainment critic/ college professor/ cartoonist/ writer/ stand-up comic. Despite his obviously limited attention span, he has managed to secure degrees from both the University of Cincinnati and Georgia State University. He currently works for Delta Air Lines and lives in Atlanta.

This was a fun book for me to read. It pulled me from a serious and busy lifestyle into a place I want to go - somewhere warm and easy spiced with humor, excitment and mystery. Reaching the end of the book was like waving goodbye to old friends after a long weekend together. Now, I look forward to seeing them again. OK, Mr. David Paule, please write something more for me to read!

If you are looking for a novel that allows you to forget about life, even for just a moment, then this is your book. D.M. Paule transports you to Key West and the wild adventures of the town. His amazing storytelling ability makes you feel as though you are right there with Aidan. I definitely recommend this book! You will not be sorry that you picked it up.
