"Monarch Majesty: A Rhyming Educational Story Coloring Book" is 25 pages, measures 9" x 12", has a spiral binding and is printed on high quality art paper, that is thick enough so you can color on both sides. It contains highly detailed illustrations to compliment a gentle story with rhyming verse. The story is a description of observations made about a curious monarch that landed on my hand. The illustrations reflect the text, and includes educational images such as; showing groups of monarchs gathered together, a migration map for North America, monarchs hiding under leaves for protection from rough weather, monarchs feeding on flower nectar, monarchs mating, the life cycle of a monarch butterfly, and finally the monarch flying up to other monarchs on a branch. It compares and contrasts monarchs with bees and moths, shows a monarch predator, and includes three different milkweed bugs. As research was done for the book, it was realized that moths spin cocoons, but butterflies pupate into a chrysalis, which is a fascinating difference. The images also include other milkweed and various butterflies. It is a wonderful book for elementary science class, especially if you are raising monarchs (or other butterflies) in the classroom. This story shows the majesty of the monarch butterfly in a story that is simple enough for the youngest child with images that are appealing to all ages, including adults.
