Unlike some of Lunar Aurora's other albums, the songs on "Mond" are very consistent and for the most part don't stray from a certain formula. That formula is aggressive, fast and brutal black metal. "Mond" features almost constant blast beats, some unusually deep vocals for a black metal band, and very heavy riffing, along with subtle but effective keyboards.

This is not to say that the album is boring or that the tracks sound too much like one another. Lunar Aurora does an excellent job of varying their songwriting and riffing, occasionally dialing down the brutality in favor of some half-speed passages, and generally keeping things interesting. But compared with their other albums like Andacht or Zyklus, the speed and atmosphere on "Mond" is pretty constant throughout.

This album contains some of my favorite tracks by the band. Highlights include 'Aufgewacht,' 'Rastlos,' 'Grimm' and 'Heimkehr,' but there really isn't a lackluster track on the album. "Mond"'s combination of atmospherics and aggression should make it enjoyable for almost any fan of black metal.
