5.0 out of 5 stars What a great book!!!
St. Martin's Press must be dumber than a bag of hair to discontinue this book. It's a wonderful mix of Barbie-ania and will certainly be read and discussed among the intelligensia for decades to come. Stupid bastards (St. Martin's, I mean)

3.0 out of 5 stars Perfect for lazy summer weekends
Fun book all the way around, from the Barbie-pink pages to the cover, not to mention the contents. This was at times a Barbie that I could have never imagined. My favorite story is "Twelve-Step Barbie", in which she lives in the L.A. area and as the title indicates has been out and about. There were some cult Barbies in "The Barbie Murders", a good sci-fi thriller...

This wonderful book is full of wit and sadness. These stories and poems make one laugh, cry and wince, and through them all screams the voice of a culture obsessed. This book should NOT be out of print.

5.0 out of 5 stars Shocking, Hilarious, Essential!!!, December 8, 1997
This review is from: Mondo Barbie (Paperback)
An excellent anthology of short fiction and poetry concerning the perfect, ever-smiling Barbie. Some of these pieces involve Barbie in suprising ways! Gently explores the vast gap between the doll's vapid perfection and the very imperfect world that we mortals inhabit. Entertaining, thought provoking and fun!

My favorite story is "Twelve-Step Barbie", in which she lives in the L.A. area and as the title indicates has been out and about. There were some cult Barbies in "The Barbie Murders", a good sci-fi thriller. Another great story is "Barbie Comes Out" (one thing I love about this compilation is the self-explanatory titles). This was a fun adventure, and a perfect read for lazy summer weekends.

5.0 out of 5 stars Love-Hate Barbie Relationship, February 28, 2002
By A Customer
This review is from: Mondo Barbie (Paperback)
Loved this book! It has wonderful stories that illumnate the reasons for our love-hate relationship with Barbie. She's just a doll for goodness sake, let's stop blaming her for anorexia!! I loved the 12-step Barbie story best of all. This book rocks!

5.0 out of 5 stars A fantastic book, July 26, 1998

I'll never look at Barbie in quite the same way again. The poems and stories in this book are wonderfully twisted, picking and probing at Barbie from her tip-toe feet to her perfect smile. A demented tour de force.

Okay, maybe I'm exagerating a bit because I have two poems in there (Hell's Angels Barbie and Confederate Barbie are mine) but there's no two ways about it -- Mondo Barbie rules! Buy this book!!
