I can't say enough great things about this book. I've read dozens of motorcycle trip books (nearly every one I can find, including one by the wife of the main protagonist in this book) and I can say that while I enjoy them all, this one stand head and shoulders above the rest.

As a yankee, I had to get used to the English phrases (result!), but that only took a moment, and I was quickly laughing out loud every chapter. My only regret about this book is that I am now extremely green with envy.

I have read EVERY SINGLE SOLITARY motorcycle travelogue that has been written. This might be the best of them all...Well written.....in diary fashion...day by day. 7 guys with 7 identical bikes Suzuki DR350's outstanding choice instead of these foo foo rides around the world with the kitchen sink attached to a 20,000.00 Beemer which is like taking a Toyota Corolla and entering it in an F-1 race, unless of course your doing the sissy way around the world PAVEMENT. The most UN-Dirt Worthy bike in the world is a BMW (all Models)...... As soon as I saw what mounts these men had chosen I was totally pumped up...The only rig I would ride around the world would be the one I own and just do tire changes for radical changes in surface.......the king of off road on road the HONDA XR650L... Thanks guys for writing a great book.

Wow, what a read and what an adventure these guys had. Set in the mid 90's it still translates to today (if you remember there were no cell / satellite phones, GPS Navigation etc available)
With all road trip books I read, it tends to shrink or speed up at the end as if they are rushing to get to the finish, hence only 4 stars. I recommend you read the glossary first, at the back, to get a handle on their "buzz" words, whilst reading the book I started using "blend" in my daily converstation and no-one knew what I was talking about.(no real change there then anyway)

Very entertaining account of the camaraderie experienced by a bunch of young happy-go-lucky brits on their motorcycle tour of this planet. Unlike many other Globe circlers, these guys do not take themselves very serious, resulting in many good laughs. The occasional use of slang requires a bit of getting used to, but adds character. A generally very down-to-earth attitude is highly agreeable. Don't look for deep philosophical insights, or dramatic emotional complications, these guys are out to have fun, and to conquer the world, suceeding on both accounts.

The book is written with good humour and is a lot of fun to read, sometimes it is so much information your mind is almost full. This book and story has encouraged and sparket the interest of other great tourers later on. They were inspired by Ted, they inspired Long Way Round which again sparket an incredible interest ever since.

The tour is mind boggling travelling with no support other than themselves and the money they had.

A must read for adventure riders.
