I listened to this, wanting it to get better.

I guess there are a few different deluxe or extended versions, but all they add is a few extra mixes of the same songs.

Actually I haven't heard much of it that I really do like.

I'm a big Zombie fan and loved his other remix albums. Especially "American Made Music To Strip By". That was phenemonal. I wish I could say the same about Mondo Sex Head. But, if you really like dubstep music, maybe you'll like this record more than me. I'm not a huge fan of dubstep. Actually I haven't heard much of it that I really do like. I loved KoRns new record "Path of Totality". Something about that just worked. It was catchy. It mixed rock with dubstep in a good way. This is not the case for Mondo Sex Head. (Then again with the aforementioned Korn album, those songs were probably written specifically with dubstep in mind, where as this album was taking older songs and putting a dubstep twist on them...which doesn't work as well)

That being said, there are a few good tracks on here. It would probably be a good album to play at a party. And I can already imagine how great it would sound if you were on drugs while listening to it. But truthfully, most of the songs just move too slow. It definately could have been better.

My recommendation would be that if you have to have this album, get the Best Buy exclusive version with the extra bonus tracks. You get more for your buck.

The average Zombie fan will probably not LOVE this album. They might give it a spin on occasion, but it's not on par with the epic remix American Made Music to Strip By (which is an album any zombie fan could listen to regularly as if it was the real album, not just a remix album). I wish Mondo Sex Head would have been handled like that one.

But again, I'm just not too big on dubstep. I'm sure there is a huge audience for this kind of thing.

Hardcore Zombie fans like myself will get it just because it has Rob's name on it....and it is decent anyway. But if you are a casual zombie fan who does NOT like dubstep, this is especially not for you.

I'm a big fan of Rob Zombie's 2 previous remix albums (Supersexy Swingin Sounds and American Made Music to Strip By) so I was pretty excited when I first heard about this release. While those 2 albums pretty much kept the essence of each song intact, 'Mondo Sex Head' completely reworks the majority of it's songs into clubbish "dub" versions (ie: eliminating most of the lyrics and digitally repeating certain phrases over and over to a thumping electronic beat). It's a pretty damn good release, but I think it'll alienate at least 90% of the Zombieheads out there (and that's a shame!).

So, I picked up a copy of the new Bobby Z remix album today. Decided to get it from best buy, to get the five bonus cuts. Brought it home and loaded it into the Hi-Fi, pressed play and sat down to peruse the cover and booklet while I listened. As I listened to each new interpretation of these past Zombie ditties, I found that some hit the mark and others did not. Is it something that'll reside in my cd player often?? Most likely not. Will I break it out occasionally for a spin, much the same way that I treat "Super-sexy Swingin' Sounds", "American Made Music to Strip By" and the "Nightcrawlers EP"?? Yes. It's entertaining. But, it's nothing I need to hear all of the time, by any means.

Also, as I paged through the booklet, I noticed some things. 1) Rob is obviously very into his wife being nude and wants us to know it, because there are many pics of her wearing very, very little within the cover. 2) I'm guessing Rob owed Geffen Records more product, cuz the last I'd heard, he was recording for Roadrunner and was supposedly done with Geffen... Alas, this new remix album is released under Geffen Records. So, I can only assume that he's throwing them a bone as some sort of contractual obligation. Either way, "Mondo Sex Head" is not unlistenable. It's just not something that everyone is going to enjoy. \m/

I'm a huge Rob Zombie fan because his music is naturally dancey. It's that perfect mix of hard rock and dance that so few can do correctly.

So naturally I was excited about this remix album, Though admittedly I was a little nervous at first because A) I didn't recognize any of the remixers and B) a lot of the reviews on here had some harsh comments.

Fortunately I didn't listen to them and got it anyway. There's a lot of incredible tracks! Most of the remixes are more subdued than your usual club fare. "P**** Liquor" for example, is a great groover that certainly makes you move, but is also very laid back. The vocal work is flawless and the beats are hot.

Here's some other favorites:

- Thunder Kiss `65 [JDevil Number of the Beast Remix] (By far the most club-friendly of the mixes, this version has dubstep and takes big liberties with the original vocal work)

- Living Dead Girl [Photek Remix] (a long 7 minute mix that is mostly dub with occasional snippets of vocal. It's trancey and really smooth)

- 13 Mars Needs Women [Griffin Boice Remix] (not a major fan of the original, but this version actually got me liking the song. It's hard and deep)

Some of the tracks are admittedly disappointing. "Foxy Foxy" is one of my fave Zombie tracks, but this remix is painful to listen to. The "Dragula" remix is much better, but still disappointing considering how flawless the original is.

OVERALL: Yes, there are some duds on here, but there are also some great mixes that any Zombie fan will lust over! My personal fave is "P---- Liquor [Ki-Theory Remix]" so if you just want to grab a single mp3, that's the one I suggest. Those other three I mentioned are also definitely worth checking out.
