5.0 out of 5 stars Simply beautiful!, March 30, 2000
By N. H. Yee (San Francisco, CA) - See all my reviews
When I visited the Solomon R. Guggenheim Museum in New York City, I was fortunate enough to see the "Blue Chrysanthemum" on display. I was held breathless by the beauty of Mondrian's painting. (I had been more familiar with Mondrian's abstract pieces before but had no idea he created so many watercolours of flowers.) Coming home, I wanted to see more of his non-abstract work and found this incredible book. The color plates are exquisite - even plates of the watercolours from private collections are included! As an ordinary art lover, I would never be able to view the privately owned watercolours if I did not purchase this book. If you love Mondrian, this would be a joy every time you open this book.

5.0 out of 5 stars The beauty on the page, December 17, 2007
I found this volume at a stoop sale and bought it immediately for the unbelievable price of $3.00. It is thoroughly beautiful, but not what you would expect. These are exquisite, lovely and delicate pictures, with a simplicity and elegance not unlike his essence. why these books are fetching astronomical prices is beyond me. They should be reprinted for all to see. It is obvious from these works that Mondrian was a great painter, but it is more telling given his later work, that he became a great artist. Not to be missed, sell something to buy this book.

I checked this book out of my local library. Never could find one at a REASONABLE price. Not worth the prices asked!
