If you and your spouse/partner either a) fight about money or b) struggle with your finances (credit card debt, for instance), this is a great resource.

This isn't a book about theory or academic financial studies. It's a "hands on" sort of book, with lots of exercises/discussions to have with your spouse and concrete steps to take to start moving forward financially.

Fair warning though: It's just a book. After reading it--or, hopefully, *as* you read it--you actually have to put it into action if you're going to improve your situation. To his credit, Frankle makes a point of telling you throughout the book to actually go and *do* the exercises. But, of course, it's all up to you in the end.

As a bonus, there's a great chapter on choosing a financial advisor. The author gives you the lowdown on the differences between brokers, CFPs, insurance agents, RIAs, and so on. (This is a field with many conflicts of interest, so it's handy to have a guide for how to find somebody who will look out for your interests rather than their own.)

If you're in a relationship this is THE resource for you. The #1 topic of most fights is money. With divorce rates so high if you can make a plan, and avoid pointless fights over money, you can improve your relationship tenfold.

The book is short-but has fantastic questions that will help you and your spouse get on the same page about money. I recommend using it as a resource for a weekly money meeting with your spouse. Before you know it you will have a plan, and be ready to payoff your debt, and create not only a stronger financial plan,but a stronger family and marriage.
