Excellent for Couples Having Money Trouble,

If you and your spouse/partner either a) fight about money or b) struggle with your finances (credit card debt, for instance), this is a great resource.
This isn't a book about theory or academic financial studies. It's a "hands on" sort of book, with lots of exercises/discussions to have with your spouse and concrete steps to take to start moving forward financially. Fair warning though: It's just a book. After reading it--or, hopefully, *as* you read it--you actually have to put it into action if you're going to improve your situation. To his credit, Frankle makes a point of telling you throughout the book to actually go and *do* the exercises. But, of course, it's all up to you in the end. As a bonus, there's a great chapter on choosing a financial advisor. The author gives you the lowdown on the differences between brokers, CFPs, insurance agents, RIAs, and so on. (This is a field with many conflicts of interest, so it's handy to have a guide for how to find somebody who will look out for your interests rather than their own.)

Great Resource for couples,
This review is from: Money Academy For Couples (Paperback)
If you're in a relationship this is THE resource for you. The #1 topic of most fights is money. With divorce rates so high if you can make a plan, and avoid pointless fights over money, you can improve your relationship tenfold.
The book is short-but has fantastic questions that will help you and your spouse get on the same page about money. I recommend using it as a resource for a weekly money meeting with your spouse. Before you know it you will have a plan, and be ready to payoff your debt, and create not only a stronger financial plan, but a stronger family and marriage.

Let's face it... couples and money rarely mix. As Neal points out, half of marriage end in divorce and the far, far majority sight money as the core issue. It's a huge area of stress, fights, and communication breakdowns.
But it doesn't have to be that way. Neal Frankle is a Certified Financial Planner with decades of experience in dealing with couples and money. His passion and his contagiously positive attitude shine through in his writing. Rather than produce a textbook or a manual, Neal has compacted his top action steps into an easy-to-digest book, specifically designed for couples. It's a straight forward, high impact, and interactive experience. It's the perfect format for couples who want to tackle the book together. You'll learn how to get out of debt, fix any leaks in your budget (or start a simple one you can stick to), and secrets to communicating about money with your spouse. Neal Frankle is the real deal. He's not a shammy guru or an holier-than-thou expert. He brings decades of certification and experience, but approaches you with the type of advice you get from a friend over drinks. If I could give Neal Frankle and Money Academy for Couples 6 stars... I would! You can't go wrong!

Teamwork makes the dream work!,
This review is from: Money Academy For Couples (Paperback)
My wife always says, "Teamwork makes the dream work!" This is more true than ever when dealing with all things marriage... and household finances are no exception.
As other reviewers have pointed out, finances are a common cause for marital discontentment, so being on the same page is not just nice - it's CRUCIAL. Few people are more intimately familiar with this concept better than Mr. Frankle. Alongside being a Certified Financial Planner, the author lives his life with passion. I know this because I read his blog regularly. Helping couples through financial decisions is not just his profession... it's his passion, and I have run into few people who are better equipped to pen such a work as this. When I began gaining passion for debt-freedom I made a lot of progress on my own, but once I was finally able to get my wife on board... the progress more than doubled and today we're in a much better place financially because of it. If you are in a similar situation and need a helping hand dealing with marriage and money... this is the book that will help you get on the same page. Just be sure you FOLLOW the advice in the book by putting Frankle's words into action, because wisdom without action is dead. |
