Caleb Peterson is the ultimate bachelor...super sexy, lucrative career, money in the bank, and has no problems showering a woman with all that her heart can desire...physically, mentally, and more importantly, FINANCIALLY! Caleb yearns for a `good woman' that can look beyond the obvious, one that looks into his eyes, his heart, and his soul and blesses him with unconditional love due to a good man. Paisley Terrell was duped while she supported a low down cheating man that was exposed on national television to her embarrassment. Caleb and Paisley begin their relationship, despite the baggage they both carry from past hurts derived from past relationships.

Can two scarred lovers allow their quest for love heal their broken-ness? Caleb's been used, Paisley's been used, can their common denominator equal trust, honor, and love? Will the walls come tumbling down and they be able to give their all to each other? Is love real, is love someone other than they think, mistakes on both parts can make or break their relationship, which will it be? To find out these answers, you will need to hop on this merry go round with Mr. Johnson. JeCaryous Johnson's Men, Money, and Gold Diggers is a pleasantly lightweight yet entertaining read. Characters were well developed, storyline flowed gracefully and consistently, yet there was a lack of true substance. This read contained predictable scenarios and reactions. An enjoyable read without a lot of challenge or change. 3.50***

5.0 out of 5 stars Love Right In His Face, October 18, 2009
This review is from: Men, Money, & Gold Diggers (Paperback)
I finished this book quick. I started this book and just couldn't put it down. I was hooked on the first page and wanted to see what else happens.

Caleb is a investmen broker that just keep coming across all this gold-digger women that he always think is the one.

Paisley is a model that was messing with this guy name Bobby that she was always taking care of but, find out that he was cheating on her all along.

Paisley said, that she wasn't going to be messing with no more broke men.

Caleb said, he wont be messing with anymore gold diggers.

So Caleb and Paisley ends up talking to each other at a club. After a great conversation Paisley didn't want anything to do with Caleb but, after her friend and her seen his picture in a magazine showing he was going to make partner at his job Trina her friend talked her into calling Caleb.

They get involved and moves it way to fast. They get engaged but, he wants her to sign a prenup and she don't want to.

Bobby shows up in the picture showing off his new money and giving Paisley gifts and taking her out on a weekend. Caleb don't like that and put Paisley out but, then after awhile they work it back out. Then they back braking up. Whiel Paisley runs to Bobby to try to work things out with him she find out more about Bobby then she expected. Caleb trying to find love in all the wrong places but, all along it was right in his face and he didn't even know it.

Great book over all. I never heard of this author but, now I want to read more of his books I see he has another book called Whatever She Wants and I want to read that for sure. Overall I got into this book and it kept me wanting more. I like.

4.0 out of 5 stars Money Will Change You, July 20, 2009
By
The RAWSISTAZ Reviewers (RAWSISTAZ.com and BlackBookReviews.net) - See all my reviews
This review is from: Men, Money, & Gold Diggers (Paperback)
Caleb Peterson is attractive, successful, and financially stable; a few attributes a woman looks for in a man. However, he's not successful in love. Caleb is tired of falling in love with gold diggers, but he has his own issues dating back to his childhood, which could very well be the reason his heart gets broken. Will he ever find true love; someone to love him for who he is and not his money?

Paisley Terrell, a Gabrielle Union look-a-like, but better (she proclaims), is a struggling model. She has been in a long relationship with Bobby Trumane, financially and mentally supporting him as he aspires to become a sports agent. Their relationship ends when she catches Bobby cheating on her and she vows never to get involved with a poor man again.

While out with friends, Caleb and Paisley met at a bar, and from first glance, Caleb knew he found the woman of his dreams. Soon they are engaged, but Caleb's friends are concerned their relationship is moving too fast and suggest a prenuptial agreement. Bobby returns back to Paisley's life, and she must decide who she wants to be with.

MEN, MONEY AND GOLD DIGGERS by Je'Caryous Johnson is a well-written novel. It's a quick read because the twists and turns in the story push you to get to the end. The characters and the storyline are plausible, and the message I received while reading is, no matter how much money you have, it doesn't mean anything if you have someone who isn't true. I recommend MEN, MONEY AND GOLD DIGGERS to readers who are looking for a quick read of drama, a little humor, and a happy ending.

This was a pretty interesting read, but some what predictable. Something new, read it in about 3 hours. Would have loved to see it as a play. Just goes to show that men can be just as vulnerable as women.

4.0 out of 5 stars Money Hungry?, April 20, 2009
This review is from: Men, Money, & Gold Diggers (Paperback)
Men, Money & Gold Diggers by Je'Caryous Johnson is an outrageous account of Caleb Peterson's life. Caleb has some women issues and they all seem to stem back to the relationship he had with his mother. Never letting go of his abandonment issues or seeking therapy, Caleb turned the other cheek and continued on his destructive path never quite understanding why he continuously attracted gold diggers.

Meet Paisley Terrell, a woman scorned by her broke boyfriend that she stood by for years, only to learn he cheated on her and was never really willing to be everything that she wanted or needed in a man. Sitting around tired, broke and frustrated, Paisley hangs out with her friends who cannot understand why Paisley is not like them. Love `em and leave `em is their motto, get what you can and get out. When a chance meeting at a local bar between Paisley and Caleb occurs, he thinks he has found the woman of his dreams. Paisley, on the other hand does not become interested, until she reads in Fortune magazine he is one of the top richest African- American men. Paisley decides he just might be worth pursuing.

Pre-nups, ex-lovers returning to stake claim and devious women fill the pages of this crazy story of finding true love. Can Caleb break the spell he seems to be under when it comes to choosing women, or will he continue to buy women and not understand that money cannot buy love? Is Paisley really in love with Caleb or the fact that he appears to be every woman's dream? Men, Money & Gold Diggers is simply scandalous, filled with begging women, weak-minded men, and that one true friend. Mr. Johnson penned a great story. This book was a fast read and good til the last drop. I recommend Men, Money & Gold Diggers to readers of all genres who are looking for a great story.

4.0 out of 5 stars Pay To Play, April 19, 2009
Caleb Peterson has the total package - a successful career, financially stable, and irresistibly gorgeous. The only thing that will make him complete is a love of his own. Unfortunately, Caleb is consistently attracting ladies who are looking for sponsorship and he is tired of the madness. He crosses paths with the beautiful Paisley Terrell, a struggling model who recently broke up with her cheating boyfriend. She's also doing what she can to keep her finances afloat, not knowing where her next dollar is coming from. As things become hot and heavy between the two, Caleb proposes to Paisley with one stipulation that could either make or break their relationship.

The play "Men, Money, & Gold Diggers" turned novel was awesome. I'm a big fan of Mr. Johnson in the theatrical arena and I was very impressed with his first book. Caleb and Paisley 's characters were well written in first person so the reader gets both points of views as well as the opinions of their friends, which I found hilarious. I love the way Caleb was portrayed and that he realizes that love has been staring him right in the face all along. "Men, Money & Gold Diggers" provides drama, plenty of laughter and how true love prevails.

3.0 out of 5 stars The Grass Is Not Greener, March 27, 2009
This review is from: Men, Money, & Gold Diggers (Paperback)
Get ready for a case of whiplash as you enter the whirlwind lives of Caleb and Paisley. Caleb is a handsome, successful investment banker who always seems to attract gold diggers. Paisley is a former model, in between jobs and fresh out of a relationship with a broke cheater. Will they be able to see past their past relationships flaws, and a prenup, to find true love?

Men, Money and Gold Diggers explores the lives of two people struggling to trust after being burned by love. Told from both Caleb and Paisleys point of view, the first chapter begins with a bang and continues to pull you deeper into their lives as the story unfolds. The main characters are well thought out and their friend and family help to add to the drama of the story.

This story was well written and covers the various pitfalls people

face in the quest for true love. The characters are realistic and engaging. The twist and turns in the plot are well placed, keeping you interested from start to finish. Though it did not take away from the book as a whole, I did find the actions of some of the characters a little over the top. I also found myself questioning the direction the story was going a few times.

Readers of contemporary literature will enjoy this page turner. If your looking for a quick read with a little drama, this book fits the bill.

5.0 out of 5 stars (4.5 Stars) An Excellent Read!, March 19, 2009
This review is from: Men, Money, & Gold Diggers (Paperback)
Does money make the world go around? Having money can take care of you financially, but what about mentally and emotionally? Money can also be the root of all evil, and it can bring problems you could not even imagine.

Paisley Terrell is a struggling model who is fed up with men. For a year and a half, Paisley had been supporting Bobby mentally and physically, hoping his long life dream would come true. When she suspects Bobby of cheating, she gets the help of "Busted," a reality television show that catches spouses in the act of cheating. Her assumptions about Bobby are true and literally catches him in the act. Tired of broke men, Paisley vows never to put herself in that situation again. Will Paisley find her prince charming? Or will her obsession with getting a man with money cloud her judgment and make her lose an opportunity?

Caleb is a successful investment banker. Handsome, financially stable and outgoing, he brings a lot to the table. After a string of bad relationships, Caleb is tired of dealing with gold diggers and having his heart broken. But Caleb has his own issues stemming from his childhood. Sometimes love is found in the strangest places. Will Caleb find the true love he desires, or will he be blind and let it pass him by?

Bobby Trumane was not the man he said he was. Bobby's life encompasses lies, deceit, and cheating, When the "mis-truths" are brought full circle, his aspirations of becoming a sports agent come true. Will Bobby continue to live a dangerous lifestyle, or will he meet his match and be forced to come clean?

Dedra is Caleb's secretary, best friend, and confidante who is always by his side during his whirlwind of bad relationships. She's the one who gives it to him "straight no chaser." Unbeknownst to Caleb, Dedra is secretly in love with him. When a chance encounter brings those feelings to light, will love conquer all, or will skeletons emerge from the closet?

Men, Money, & Gold Diggers was an excellent read by Je'Caryous Johnson. The book addressed the male and female perspective, and it illustrated the good, bad and the ugly in relationships. Johnson showed that no matter how much money you have, it means nothing if you don't have someone who is down to ride with you and stay true. Men, Money, & Gold Diggers provided drama, an interesting storyline, and proved that there is a light at the end of the tunnel...even when you least expect it.

4.0 out of 5 stars well written tale of love, April 17, 2009
This review is from: Men, Money, & Gold Diggers (Paperback)
In Houston African-American investment banker Caleb Peterson wonders why he always meets gold diggers. Recently, there was cheating Kendra; before her was Vanessa who used his credit card to buy boobs for her mom; and before her was Liza who still drives the Mercedes. His latest Asia proves the opposite but she is too nice, uneducated, and Josephine six-pack. He pulls a stunt with "Water Melon" to dump her.

In Houston, former model Paisley Terrell has been with Bobby for a year and a half, but thinks he is stepping out on her. She arranges for the "Busted" reality TV show to prove her claim and they do. She ends it on the air.

Caleb and Paisley meet at a club with most nursing their latest relationship failures. They hit it off and become engaged, but their friends warn each of them over whether to have a pre-nuptial agreement or not. Meanwhile Dedra ends her abusive relationship with violent Marcus while also falling in love with Caleb while Paisley's ex sports agent Bobby Trumane is back in town ready to pick up where he left with Paisley.

This novelization of the author's play is a well written tale of love that though the reader will know is an adaptation will appreciate anyway due to the cast. The lead couple is a fascinating pairing as each is going through relationship-karma as they learn what love is all about. With the exception of Dedra, the support cast is never fully developed though they play key roles. With a terrific final spin on what's love, Je'Caryous Johnson provides an engaging novelization of his play MEN, MONEY AND GOLD DIGGERS.
