5.0 out of 5 stars 'In it for the Money' w/ bonus disc, January 9, 2000

First off, Supergrass are quite possibly the best guitar-oriented songwriters currently in operation. And this album is no disappointment. Every song is a glorious example of superb musicianship and pop sensibility that make common men appear as apes. 'In It For The Money' is a truly satisfactory experience, leaving you craving more, but completely spent. I think that everyone who has heard it knows that it is one of the better albums in existence. the bonus disc is a totally fun bouncy experiment in Supergrass' garage rock mindset. They have a lo-fi, high energy sound that makes me wish they'd lived on my street when we were all 15 and trying to learn guitar. This disc is worth the money and the effort to find it, if for no other reason, just to experience Supergrass from a much cooler angle than what you may have initially gotten on hearing 'IIFTM.' I cannot stress enough... DO NOT PASS UP THE OPPORTUNITY TO OWN THIS SET.

Over ten years on and this album is still as fresh as it was day one.

Supergrass had a very headstrong, expressive first album. As a second album "In It For The Money" was a musical improvement, but lost some of the more earthy expression of teens finding their way in life, but it comes together as their most overall enjoyable album to date. Sure, they haven;t had a bad album yet, and they are all quite good, but "Money" peaked as an overall package. Afterwards they became, at times, wistfully plastic, creepy, obtuse and silly.

I still love their recent albums, but wish they would release one every two years minimal.
