Personal and Professional Applications Make this a Must Read,
By Lisa (Forestville, California United States) - See all my reviews
This review is from: Money Magic: Unleashing Your True Potential for Prosperity and Fulfillment (Paperback)
Money Magic is a must read for people interested in thinking differently about the personal and professional energy of money. I read this book for my own personal development a couple of months ago, and found it insightful, simple and immediately applicable to both my personal financial life and my work. I have directed a local community service for nearly 11 years, often marveling at how resources flow into the association just when we need them. I would wonder, "WOW, how did that just happen?" While Money Magic has been written as a resource for understanding one's own relationship with money and the energy of money, after reading Money Magic, I have now begun to look at how the collective belief systems of our Board volunteers and staff influence our perceptions of and perspectives on the financial resources we draw to our agency to help us fulfill our Mission. It is not often that I come across nonfiction books that so effectvely bridge the personal and the professional with great tools, useful exercises and thought provoking insight.

This book eased my worries about money,

This review is from: Money Magic: Unleashing Your True Potential for Prosperity and Fulfillment (Paperback)
In early 2006, I felt like I was under-utilizing my talents, and wondered how I could increase my personal value. I feel as though this book just "appeared" in my life, as sometimes happens when I need a life lesson.
Money Magic helped me to get to the root of my money issues, and helped me to see that money is THE form of exchange in the world. My relationship with money was common to other forms of relationship in the world. I was hiding my potential, and felt unsophisticated and "behind" others. Through the powerful exercises and gentle words, this book helped me to recognize my own value. It's been so powerful for me that I trained with the author, Deborah Price, to become a money coach myself. [...] If you are feeling stuck about your relationship with money or worth (including self-worth), I recommend this book for helping you to heal and thrive.

Deborah Price's insights are brilliant,
By Julianne Hammond (Australia) - See all my reviews
This review is from: Money Magic: Unleashing Your True Potential for Prosperity and Fulfillment (Paperback)
Deborah Price's insights into our relationships and behaviour surrounding money are brilliant. Furthermore her tools for helping one to change negative behaviour patterns and attitudes towards money, if applied, are life changing. I bought Deborah's book whilst researching different investment strategies. Many of her ideas resonated deeply with me and as a result I made contact with her and am now training to be a Money Coach, under Deborah's guidance. The author's knowledge and insights into money, relationships, psychology and spirituality are outstanding. Her ideas are conveyed beautifully and succintly in Money Magic and I encourage anyone seeking a more prosperous and purposeful life to read it.

Get real and get happy around money and wealth,
This review is from: Money Magic: Unleashing Your True Potential for Prosperity and Fulfillment (Paperback)
Deborah Price identifies eight different `money personality' types which help provide an understanding of why people have so many issues to do with money. As she says: `when it comes to money, most people lead imagined as opposed to real lives' ... and don't the financial institutions that lend the money, and the advertising agencies that create the ads know that? She makes the point that `wealth does not suddenly make personal or psychological problems disappear. To the contrary, it often magnifies them'. [p11]
This book provides a lot of insight into many of the attitudes and beliefs we have absorbed from our upbringing and environment. It is these unconscious thoughts and beliefs (that we have never critiqued) that undermine our financial health and enjoyment of life. It is true that you can't change what you are not aware of - so you may just want to read this book.

The Alchemy of Gold from the inside out,

This review is from: Money Magic: Unleashing Your True Potential for Prosperity and Fulfillment (Paperback)
California native Deborah Price is living up to the prophecy of her surname. With her book "Money Magic", readers are led to discover their unique money archetype. Money Magic (www.money-therapy.com) describes the games we all play around money. Often fear-based, unconscious, and out-of-control, Price identifies distinct issues that block people from actualizing their dreams of prosperity. Using archetypes is a powerful method to get to the root cause of money flow or money blocks. Money Coaching treats the cause instead of the symptoms by pin-pointing how we play games with money. Think of a shopping addict, they often know they have a problem but can't stop. Why? It is more than a matter of stopping a behavior. It is about transforming an unconscious self-fulfilling prophecy. Money Coaching was created to address the fear-based controls that affect our money habits. It uses simple, practical exercises to expose listeners to their common pitfalls with opportunities to alter a money pattern. Deborah Price is a pioneer in the field of using Jungian style archetypes to make a difference in people's relationships with money, wealth, prosperity, and abundance. Her interactive presentations get audience in touch with their money archetype. Participants leave with a greater intimacy and honesty about their financial choices. Price is a senior financial consultant who discovered that the best investments in the world couldn't change people's attitudes toward money. She has helped clients discover the underlying beliefs about money that had previously prevented them from reaching their financial goals. Deborah formed "money coaching" groups that further explored the issues. She is also the author of Smart Investing Online Today! (February 2000 from Adams Media).

Deborah Price's Money Magic is an unusually potent self-help book. In an afternoon with Deborah's little book of wisdom and insight, I realized why money has eluded me all of my life despite my qualifications, abilities, talent and drive. You HAVE to read this book if it is the only book you read in the next 5 years! Deborah's wisdom is guaranteed to stay with you for days, weeks, months and years to come...

Deborah Price's system prescribes solutions based on your archetype as she defines it. As with most systems like this, you will likely discover you don't fit neatly into the types she describes.
Furthermore, her assessment process consists of you selecting words that you think describe yourself from a list of 69 words. In my opinion, the words she uses offer very black and white options and are highly judgmental. Are you a victim? Passive-aggressive? Calculating? Or loving? Spiritual? A seeker of the truth? Can you really be objective in assigning such highly charged words to yourself? (Would you want to anyway?) Next, Price superimposes a veneer of sprituality, instructing you to assess your "true net worth", i.e., how you have spent your life so far vs. what you would need to do to fulfill you as a human being. Then she ices the cake with a bit of psychotherapy, instructing you to review your relationships with your parents and to assess your need to control. Price's final prescription is "the alchemy of faith", essentially forgive, pray, trust your intuition, and go with the flow. Hmmm... I'm wondering if a money manager on Wall Street might title this book "Money Mumbo Jumbo".

Accolades to the author,
By Stephen (South Africa) - See all my reviews

This has been one of the most insightful books I have read on money matters. Not only does the author have a deep understanding of the financial workings of business and the world (which makes sense having come from the heart of the financial services world), but she adds an understanding to why we continually repeat old money patterns time and again. Having read this book, I have a clear understanding of those influences that have most impacted on my current belief system around money. Which belief system has resulted in me repeating patterns of behavior in money matters all my life. The author then goes on to carve out an individual "Money Profile" for the reader with her 8 "money types". This leaves one with a crystal clear image of how wone will repeat one's "money patterns" for the rest of one's lives unless we change something. Knowing one's "Money Profile" indicates exactly what behavior one needs to change. Highly recommend this to people in all catagories. I believe this is suitable for school kids, employees, small to medium business owners as well as top management

When you pick up this book you don't really know what to expect. I did not expect to be deeply moved and intrigued. And I did not expect it to grab my attention like it did. I couldn't put it down. It is intelligent, spiritual, practical, wise and innovative. I recommend it to all my friends. I look forward to rereading it to keep learning from it's richness. It has forever changed my views about money and my life.
