Cash Money Hits Back,
By A Customer
This review is from: Cash Money Millionaires Presents Platinum Instrumentals (Audio CD)
By now, no one should expect anything less than the grandest of scales when Cash Money Records is involved. Concurrent with the long-time-coming release of Turk's solo project, the Cash Money Millionaires stike back with "Platinum Hits," a collection of instrumentals from their popular songs. Due to the nature of the album, no rap fan should be surprised when they listen to this; you will hear old beats. However, this is a nice album to have if you want to freestyle over it, create some demos, or just want that Cash Money sound on in the background while you drive in your car or hang around the house. While some songs are harder to adapt to than others (it is difficult to freestyle over a beat like Big Ballin) this is great fodder for any aspiring rapper. This is not an original album and it is only instrumentals, so someone looking for new material should buy Turk's "Young and Thuggin'." But, this is a great album to have if you like Cash Money or if you want some beats to rap or DJ with.

DJ's Thank You Cash Money,
By "hotmouth2000" (Nunya) - See all my reviews
This review is from: Cash Money Millionaires Presents Platinum Instrumentals (Audio CD)
For everybody who wonders why Cash Money would put out a album of just instrumentals, the answer is: DJ's. People like myself who Dj have been breaking their backs for the past few years trying to get hold of some Cash Money Instrumentals. It's impossible to try and get them on Cd because Cash Money doesn't release Cd singles. Furthermore, Dr. Dre did the same thing when he dropped his "Dr.Dre 2001- Instrumentals" Cd. Check it out, it's banging too. There's something about being able to hear the track by itself that allows better appreciation for the song. That is especially for those fools out there who don't like Cash Money's rapping style, and only like Mannie Fresh's beats. They should understand that the 2 go together like bread and meat. This album is scorching like the rest of the Cash Money catalogue, I just don't expect it to put up major numbers, since it's not directed toward the mainstream audience.

This review is from: Cash Money Millionaires Presents Platinum Instrumentals (Audio CD)
...he claims the ol' school sounds of mantronix as an inspiration and you can hear the influence in his music today...but manny is a baaaad man with a vision few posess, afterall, he has produced every single song of every album of every artist signed to cash money (lil wayne's soon to be released album bein the lone exception)...few hip hop producers can have entire albums of jus their music sound complete without the emphasis (or over-emphasis) of a gaggle of emcees harassing the microphone over their beats...but manny does it...he is one of the few producers who deserves 'dr. dre status'...respect his work yall...
