4.0 out of 5 stars Cash Money Hits Back
By now, no one should expect anything less than the grandest of scales when Cash Money Records is involved. Concurrent with the long-time-coming release of Turk's solo project, the Cash Money Millionaires stike back with "Platinum Hits," a collection of instrumentals from their popular songs. 1.0 out of 5 stars NOT A VERY SMART DECISION BY CASHMONEY
First of all I just would like to know..Who in the world would want to buy a CD with just beats and no rapping? Frankly I thought that this was a very dumb idea for Cash Money to do this. I mean Cash Money is the greatest but this just made me want to forget about them completely. Anyway I strongly recomend that you do not buy this album...well unless you have trouble...

4.0 out of 5 stars Cash Money Hits Back, June 5, 2001

This review is from: Cash Money Millionaires Presents Platinum Instrumentals (Audio CD)
By now, no one should expect anything less than the grandest of scales when Cash Money Records is involved. Concurrent with the long-time-coming release of Turk's solo project, the Cash Money Millionaires stike back with "Platinum Hits," a collection of instrumentals from their popular songs. Due to the nature of the album, no rap fan should be surprised when they listen to this; you will hear old beats. However, this is a nice album to have if you want to freestyle over it, create some demos, or just want that Cash Money sound on in the background while you drive in your car or hang around the house. While some songs are harder to adapt to than others (it is difficult to freestyle over a beat like Big Ballin) this is great fodder for any aspiring rapper. This is not an original album and it is only instrumentals, so someone looking for new material should buy Turk's "Young and Thuggin'." But, this is a great album to have if you like Cash Money or if you want some beats to rap or DJ with.

5.0 out of 5 stars DJ's Thank You Cash Money, July 1, 2001
This review is from: Cash Money Millionaires Presents Platinum Instrumentals (Audio CD)
For everybody who wonders why Cash Money would put out a album of just instrumentals, the answer is: DJ's. People like myself who Dj have been breaking their backs for the past few years trying to get hold of some Cash Money Instrumentals. It's impossible to try and get them on Cd because Cash Money doesn't release Cd singles. Furthermore, Dr. Dre did the same thing when he dropped his "Dr.Dre 2001- Instrumentals" Cd. Check it out, it's banging too. There's something about being able to hear the track by itself that allows better appreciation for the song. That is especially for those fools out there who don't like Cash Money's rapping style, and only like Mannie Fresh's beats. They should understand that the 2 go together like bread and meat. This album is scorching like the rest of the Cash Money catalogue, I just don't expect it to put up major numbers, since it's not directed toward the mainstream audience.

5.0 out of 5 stars ...manny fresh is a genius..., May 24, 2002
This review is from: Cash Money Millionaires Presents Platinum Instrumentals (Audio CD)
...he claims the ol' school sounds of mantronix as an inspiration and you can hear the influence in his music today...
but manny is a baaaad man with a vision few posess, afterall, he has produced every single song of every album of every artist signed to cash money (lil wayne's soon to be released album bein the lone exception)...few hip hop producers can have entire albums of jus their music sound complete without the emphasis (or over-emphasis) of a gaggle of emcees harassing the microphone over their beats...but manny does it...he is one of the few producers who deserves 'dr. dre status'...respect his work yall...

5.0 out of 5 stars The best Instrumentals, July 7, 2001
This review is from: Cash Money Millionaires Presents Platinum Instrumentals (Audio CD)
A lot of people do not understand the purpose of an instrumentals album. It was not released for everyone to go and buy. It is great for DJ's to just have some background music or to mix with other songs. You can also practice rapping along with the beats. I highly recommend it for the DJ or if you just want some hot beats with loud Bass!

5.0 out of 5 stars $$$ Ca$hmoney Platinum Hits$$$, June 17, 2001

Cash Money is one of the most dominating rap groups out there. At first I didn't like the idea that Cash Money was releasing an instrumental album, but then I realized they included song of my favorite Cash Money beats of all time. Their most successful songs were added to the instrumental album. Everything from

The Hot Boys "I need a Hot girl" to BG and his major hit from Chopper City In the Ghetto "Bling Bling." Also the hit from Wayne's solo album "The Block Is Hot" and the Big Tymers with thier hit "#1 Stunna." You can't forget about Juvenile and his 2 major hits "Back That a-- up" and "I Got Tha Fire."

Look at this song line-up!!! You probaly enjoyed most of these tracks as much as I did. This album is great just to chill to, or if you enjoy to free style. If your a DJ and like to mix and play around with different beats this album is for you. Get this album and look for the Hot Boys new one "Let em Burn" and Juveniles "Project English."

5.0 out of 5 stars Finally a good beat, without the bad language!, July 14, 2001

This Cash Money Instrumentals album is perfect for anyone that does not like the language used by most of these rappers. There are a couple of songs that do have some lyrics, but it is something as simple as "Bling, Bling", which doesn't really have a meaning anyway. The backgrounds of each of these top hits are great, and they all have an awesome beat. So, I do recommend it to all those, who like me do not like faul language, but do like to hear a good beat.

5.0 out of 5 stars A rapper's dream come true, August 27, 2007

This instrumentals cd from Cash Money came at a time when the label was in its prime [Before Juvenile, B.G., and Turk left and before Mannie Fresh left and stopped doing the beats for the albums coming from Cash Money], Meaning that you're gonna get the instrumentals to some of the best songs to ever come from Cash Money! The only small setback on this entire cd is that the hooks to most of the songs still remain in most of these instrumentals. But, That's ok, Because the music on this cd is ideal for demo's, parties, radio shows, You name it. The beats to ''Cash Money Is An Army'' and ''We On Fire'' are worth it alone. Best beats are ''Cash Money Is An Army'', ''We On Fire'', Follow Me Now'', ''The Block Is Hot'', and ''Ha''. Go buy this cd as soon as possible if you need some beats for any occasion.

5.0 out of 5 stars Mannie Fresh is a beast on the boards..., August 8, 2006
This review is from: Cash Money Millionaires Presents Platinum Instrumentals (Audio CD)
I am a Hip Hop Producer, an I hope to become an Engineer, and I must say Mannie Fresh is the envy of 90% of producers out there. The dudes got skills. Even the small stuff normal people don't notice, like the way he compresses his drum's, his mixing, ETC. is simply amazing. I myself personally strive to one day be as good as Mannie. He makes song's, not the rapper. Good example is "Back Tha Azz Up". Juvie sucks on that song, but Mannie constructs a masterpeice, which makes the song OWN!
This right here is a must have for anyone that is any of theasr groups...
If you are...
A Cash Money fan
A Southern Rap Fan
A Mannie Fresh Fan
or,
A Music Producer

Than you must cop this ASAP!
