Format: Paperback
Helmer, the host of Minnesota's popular WCCO radio program "Your Money," has produced a clearly written, easily understood book explaining finance and financial planning for everyone. This book is based on his years as a financial planer. He is the founder and President of Wealth Enhancement Group, a company that oversees 1.6 billion in client accounts.

Helmer addresses the five slices of the pie of what you can do with money: spending, saving, investing, paying taxes, and giving money away. These things affect each other, and greatly affect your life. The most interesting of the major sections of the well-organized book were Money and Spouses, Money and Children, and Money and Parents.

If you have questions about good or bad debt, the virtues of the different types of life insurance, how much to invest and what to invest in, this is the book for you. Incredibly complex subjects are explained in plain English, easy enough for the neophyte to understand.

Some advice from Helmer: "The priority in your life should always be the people you love, never the money. Money can benefit the people you love, and it provides the greatest benefits if it is used efficiently."

Armchair Interviews says: Investing in--and reading this book is the start to a sound financial future.

This book really puts everything into perspective.

Bruce Helmer points out that the best way to approach financial planning is to focus on the people in our lives. Wealth should not be about attaining a certain value, but about those we love.

Being in the financial industry, Bruce Helmer has learned that relationships are the greatest influence on how people will plan for the future. As one reader stated, Bruce uses "Plain English" that is seldom spoken in the financial industry to explain some incredibly complex subjects. Bruce challenges conventional ideas and gives examples of why following these ideas often times can be detrimental to your financial health. He also makes one realize you should follow your own passion, because wealth is defined by the beholder.

A Must Read!!!

This book really gets down to what matters, how money impacts your relationships with those you love. The chapters on Money and Spouses had a lot of great insights. Money and the People You Love is very easy to understand and fun to read, very anecdotal. This book is a must for anyone interested in how planning their finances impacts their whole life, from newly married to planning on leaving a legacy.
