The main thing you'll notice is the addition of the Mongolians to battle against as they try to invade Japan in the 13th century. Rather than just adding a new race and new challenges to conquer, EA have tinkered with the AI giving the gameplay a more balanced approach as well as improving the interface and presentation of the whole game overall.
