Noticed that when attempting to make a u turn the pedal comes within less than an inch of the tire and subsequently it is very easy for your shoe to hit the tire

I don't take this bike on mountains, and I don't advise you to. This bike is a very good bike for paved roads and trails. If the handlebars are loose...it probably means you didn't tighten it down enough yourself.

5.0 out of 5 stars Bang For The Buck!!, May 23, 2008

Sure this bike probably can't compare to the more expensive bikes you get at the local bike store...HOWEVER, if your main use for this bike is commute, or the only surfaces you bike are on paved bike paths, trails with no more than 1-foot drops, then this bike will do the job to satisfaction. I am only getting into biking after many years of driving cars, so I'm still not 100% sure if I'm going to fall in love with this sport. Once I decide that I am really into this sport, and start going into the woods or mountains where I'll be taking 5-foot drops, I will definitely get a $1000+ bike. But I digress. This bike feels very solid, and so far I have had no mechanical problems whatsoever and I ride it about 45 miles a week on the street and bumpy trails. Luckily, one of my engineering design projects in school have been on human-powered vehicles, giving me a chance to learn about the mechanics of bicycle components; so I am decent at tuning bikes, so that may attribute to why my bikes have had no problems like a loose handle bar. Don't let the snobby mountain bikers, who worships their local bike shops and only buy $2000 bikes, steer you away from buying this bike. Use this bike to decide whether or not you really enjoy this sport, in the end you'll be much happier!

5.0 out of 5 stars Strong and 35 lbs, October 16, 2007

It came partially assembled. I had to put on the front wheel and the handle bar. I needed one box wrench and one allen wrench. The seat has a quick release lever and the pedals just screw on. The tires can handle 60 lbs. I put 55 lbs. in each tire. Be sure to position the tire so that the valve stem is directly under the valve stem opening on the rim before inflation to keep from stressing it.
I road on a ruff wilderness trail for three hours without any mechanical problems. It weighs 35 lbs. total.

5.0 out of 5 stars Good overall Bike, May 16, 2008
I decided to review this bike since I saw little to no reviews for it. I got this bike a few days ago, and so far I am very pleased. Easy assembly, due to the fact that it comes partly assembled. If you are not too apt for putting things together, this may be a problem. When I first rode the bike, it was a great ride. For me, it was smooth and easy all the way through. I read somewhere that this bike is heavy, and I will have to admit that it is pretty heavy. It's not something that should stop you from buying it, unless you have a problem lifting it when necessary.

I guess the only problems (if you want to call them that) with this bike are the sounds it makes. The suspension makes a creaking sound, doesn't bother me at all. Also, the breaks make a sound when I use them but I am sure I can fix that.

So overall, this is a good bike, and I recommend it to anyone who is interested. I do not think you will be disappointed.

4.0 out of 5 stars Solid construction w/dual suspension features provide great ride!, May 21, 2006
Great deal on a solid full suspension bicycle from Mongoose that handles very well. The rear suspension mechanism feels very solid and is very comfortable for general or strenuous pedaling. The front and rear brakes are pretty solid and required very slight tweaking to balance them. GREAT handlebars with GREAT bar ends. Wish that the derailers were adjusted a little bit better out of the box, but functioned as expected. Seat post is tall enough for 6'0" and under, so bicycle should fit most people easily. Wish the rear axle was quick release but the front is, so locking up the bicycle is easy.

The only significant complaint that I had was the cheap pedals used. The metal "teeth" are sparse resulting in somewhat slippery petal performance, so you are forced to keep your feet close to the cranks to keep from slipping on hard pedalling. Otherwise no complaints!

Great deal folks!!!

4.0 out of 5 stars Great Bike, June 20, 2009
I would give this 5 stars but assembling was a pain, the instructions were limited so you basically had to figure it out yourself, so now im taking it to a bike shop. Overall this is an awesome bike, my boyfriend absolutely LOVES it!!

4.0 out of 5 stars Nice Bike for the money, May 19, 2009

This review is from: Mongoose Maneuver Men's Dual-Suspension Mountain Bike (26-Inch Wheels) (Sports)
I bought this bike based on the reviews and was not disappointed. I was a little surprized to see that the wheels did not have quick release on them but it's not that big of a deal. The bike arrived in pretty good shape and few nic and scratches but nothing terrible. The bike goes together rather quickly, attach the pedal, handlebars and front tire, I did have to adjust the brakes to get the tires on. Overall I am satified with the bike.

5.0 out of 5 stars This is a nice mountain bike., March 29, 2009

This review is from: Mongoose Maneuver Men's Dual-Suspension Mountain Bike (26-Inch Wheels) (Sports)
This is the first bike I've purchased since I was a kid. I wanted to get something that wasn't an $80 Kmart bike but I also have no need for a high end bike in the neighborhood of $1000 either. This is well worth $180 in my opinion.

First of all, I received the bike very quickly. There was no cosmetic damage to the bike whatsoever and I was able to put it together in less than a half hour with very limited knowledge of bikes. The bike comes partially pre-assembled, you will just have to attach the front wheel, handlebars and peddles and make small adjustments to the brakes. You should only need a couple of allen wrenches and crescent wrench to put the bike together. One piece of advice, just make sure the handlebars are on as tight as possible, they got a little loose on my first ride because I didn't tighten them down enough.

I have only taken it on paved roads so far but it rides very smooth. So far I have done 2 10-mile bike rides and have seen nothing to complain about with the bike. I would highly recommend this bike to anyone who is looking for a good entry level bike at a good price.

4.0 out of 5 stars Good solid bike..., August 24, 2007

This bike has a solid feel to it. The shimano derailleur is very good. As with most mountain bikes, it is a bit heavy, but the wide knobby tires will give you much better traction than a lighter racing bike and are a safeguard against spills on the road. The dual-suspension gives the bike a comfortable ride. The only negative is that at $200 retail the bike is a bit expensive. However, I was able to pick one up in mint condition at a thrift store for only $20 bucks.
