I was so excited to get this bike for my son. He had always wanted a Mongoose. I purchased it as a Christmas gift but unfortunately he couldn't use it until there was no snow on thr ground :( The FIRST time he rode it, the derailler broke. I called Mongoose and they said there was nothing I could do about it because it was 6 months old (again this was the FIRST time we could use it because we live in MICHIGAN).
We ended up taking the bike to a bike shop for repairs and it ended up costing us $75.00.
My son prefers his OLD bike to this one now and I need to just get rid of it.
It is poorly constructed and not what I expected quality wise overall.
Amazon.com on the other hand is great!! It arrived in 3 days AND I got free shipping!! I buy everything on Amazon!!

Ordered this product last week as a birthday present and it was delivered in just over a week. I chose free shipping so can not complain. Box looked like it went through a war, but the bike was in pretty good shape. I noticed a scratch here or there, but nothing that stuck out. The frame color is unique and the the black wheels and tires make the bike look much more expensive than it really is.
This bike is a great gear bike for under $150. However, it took a lot of time to assemble and tune. I ended up taking most of it apart because it looked like it was carelessly put together. The hubs were so tight that the wheels did not spin and the pedals and brakes had to be taken apart and reassembled with lots of adjustments in order to get them to work properly. Once assembled and tuned, it worked great. The front shock forks and the suspension spring for the back wheel really do dampen some of the road shock and make the bike ride smooth.
Others complained about the bikes quality and the fact that it broke within a short period of time. I can see how that could happen if you don't take a little time to go through it and make the proper adjustments. Walmart sells a similar bike in green for about the same price. If you do not want to deal with the assembly and tuning, I suggest you try that option.
It's not a $1000 mountain bike, but my 11 year old son only plans on riding around with his friends and hitting some occasional trails. I have a 9 year old son that went crazy when he saw it and asked if he could get the same bike for his birthday.
