About Mongoose
Founded in 1974 in a Southern California garage, Mongoose has always been an innovator. From the company's initial cast-magnesium MotoMag wheels to its current crop of BMX, mountain, and pavement bikes, the Mongoose name has been synonymous with bicycle performance. Mongoose builds specifically for riders, which is why the company's BMX designers aren't wasting time watching reruns on ESPN2. Instead, they're constantly testing their new designs at the park, on the track, and on the hill. This continuous experimentation is what drives Mongoose to cook up things like the Front Porch head tube, which lets you fine-tune the handling on Black Diamond series mountain bikes, or Freedrive suspension technology, which eliminates pedal bob and provides a super-efficient full suspension. Mongoose bikes don't just push the limits; they set new ones.

This is NOT a Mountain Bike, but it IS a good bike,
This review is from: Mongoose Women's Estes Bicycle (Blue) (Sports)
I bought this bike from KMart on super clearance. If I told you how much I paid, you'd never believe me. Point being, the price above is much too much for a discontinued bike. The seat was murder. I went biking and struggles to complete 9 miles. So glad I turned back when I did because I'm still in pain from Sunday and it's Tuesday. I highly recommend changing this seat. It feels like you're being branded like a cow to the bone...seriously. This bike is very sturdy. I weigh a lil over 200 lbs, but I love outdoor activities. This bike does lose a lil bit of efficiency on gravel, but the factory tires handle very well. I would recommend this to a beginner biker like me, but not someone learning to ride. This bike is not very lightweight and would not be "fall friendly."
