Editorial Reviews

Review

"Author Joey Green didn't write any part of this 182-page paperback but the introduction, yet he has done a wonderful service by arranging the words of Ms. Lewinsky into categories worthy of a self-help book... It's kind of nice to have it all laid out in a format perfect for your coffee table or, better yet, your powder room." -- Paul Mulshine, Newark Star-Ledger, December 27, 1998

"Compiled by Joey Green, the pocketbook-sized Monica Speaks offers a treasure trove of Lewinsky logic culled from her grand jury testimony, e-mail, and taped conversations with ex-pal Linda Tripp. The quotations delve deeply in the 25-year-old intern's carefree personality... A lot more fun to browse through than Kenneth Starr's endless report, Monica Speaks' puckish probe of American's most infamous cigar stuffer also makes for a perfectly timed yuletide stocking stuffer." -- Bill DeLapp, Syracuse New Times, December 16, 1998

"Luckily, Joey Green has broken it all down, quote by ridiculous quote, in his book, Monica Speaks: Genuine Pearls of Wisdom from America's Most Famous White House Intern. Categorized into a slew of tongue-in-cheek topics, the book sheds a rather unflattering -- but nonetheless, humorous -- light on what might have been going on inside Lewinsky's beret-wearing head." -- Lisa Ferguson, Las Vegas Sun, January 11, 1999

"The banal landscape of Lewinsky's psyche is on full display here, filed under Conspicuous Consumption ('I must admit it -- I am a compulsive shopper'), Poetry ('One time I wrote a really stupid poem'), and Intellectual Pursuits ('Ohh how I long for the time when we can just spend a day together... starting w/ coffee at Starbucks... shopping... lunch at somewhere yummy... maybe a movie... more shopping... and then getting drunk on margaritas!!! Whooo-hoooo!'). The words of the self-proclaimed 'married man magnet' occasionally carry an ironic barb, as when she speaks of literature: '(Walt) Whitman is so rich that one must read him like one tastes a fine wine or good cigar -- take it in, roll it in your mouth, and savor it.'" -- Jeffrey Drake, PitchWeekly, December 17, 1998

"The perfect stocking stuffer." -- Richard Roeper, Chicago Sun Times, December 23, 1998

1.0 out of 5 stars My Karma, My Career, April 24, 1999
By A Customer
I gave the book one star to get your attention. I have not yet finished the book. What is more important to me right now is how Monica is being treated by the American media. I can't help how wives feel about the Monicas of the world but I can say something about the American bloodhounds we call the media. These "dogs" have to make a living and they make it, each and every day, each and every one of them, off the carrions or corpses of tragedies, human tragedies. We could say they are our avengers carrying out the toll for her bad deeds. But it is a witchhunt now. Now she is being persecuted. I just want to take the opportunity to say that I am not a Monica fan -- I could care less about Monica, I don't know her -- but I want her to know that she makes a great interview and she says what needs to be said. It is others who are trying to sensationalize and exploit. I am delighted the way she takes control and asserts her agenda. I hope she doesn't lose heart. She is doing grrreat! She should stick to business and business principles, remain professional and be sure to collect her check for doing business, because she earns it.. My friends and I are finding Monica Lewinsky far more moral than most of the people who interview her and write about her and who criticize her. We wish her the best of luck and we feel everything will be alright in her life if she doesn't give into people who either want to make money off of her or people who want to make their morals, her morals. Or, give into women who are frighten that other young women will take their husbands. Thanks for your attention.

5.0 out of 5 stars I support this book, June 18, 1999
By A Customer
I just wanted Monica Lewinsky to know I support her. The reporters treat her like dirt and she does not deserve it. Why does the woman always get blamed for everything? I saw her first book signing at Harrods in London. My heart went out to her. Anyone who saw it could of seen the reporters were getting to her. She looked so upset. I say "Way To Go Monica" about writing her book and letting the world know her side. I would love to meet her so I could give her the hug she deserves. All My Support, Nicole Alexander

5.0 out of 5 stars My what big ears you have., April 12, 1999
By A Customer
I don't know about anyone else, but when I see Monica Lewinsky, all I can do is focus on her gigantic ear lobes. I mean, these things are huge. They look like a couple of raw Pilsbury Grand biscuits fresh out of the tube. And that hair. What is she thinking? If you're going to spend so much time working on your hair, why not: A. make it look good and B. Make it cover up your monstrous ear lobes. But the book was good.
