Ok after reading the reviews I looked into this because I've used the Monistat 1 three times. The first time I used it there were no issues. The second and third time I used it, it felt like I'd set myself on fire. I was really confused so now that I need to use it again I did a little label reading and guess what, there are 2 different Monistat 1's! The first one is a pre-filled 1 day applicator and contains 300 mg of Ticonozale (6.5%). The second one is an ovule insert 1 day applicator and contains 1200 mg of Miconazole. They both work within a roughly 24 hour time frame and need only a single application, however the ovule 1200 mg Miconazole is the one that set me on fire. The other one worked great and didn't burn, just tingled a bit, similar to a topical numbing ointment. Both are best used at night just before bed since they are a bit messy. However I will be avoiding the ovule from now on and going with the 300 mg of Ticonozale. Hopefully this is helpful to others out there. Wish they'd thought to make it more obvious :-S.

OKAY. So I developed a yeast infection when I started taking antibiotics this week. Don't tell me it is not a yeast infection because I took two home-tests and have had many in the past. I'm in my 20's and have never been allergic to any medicine and have never even broken out in a rash until this devil medicine.

I went out and bought the one day hoping to clear it up quickly. THEN I read the reviews. I thought everyone was being dramatic, but guess what- an hour after I used it I was in a TON of pain. It started off as a mild itching but turned into an unbearable itching burning sensation. After two hours I couldn't handle it and used water to try and rinse it out. (you don't even want to know how I got it all out.)

I then sat there with an ice pack to get the burning to stop. I have never written a review and thought everybody was just exaggerating, but I will never use this product again and will tell everyone I know to avoid it. JUST USE THE THREE DAY! It takes longer but is not super intense. I wish I had not tried to rush the treatment and do the one day.

And lastly- if you are one of the few blessed ones who did not have a reaction, then you have a vagina of steel. congratulations.

I get regular (2/year) yeast infections and was too lazy to get a diflucan refill for my most recent one since it was so mild. Instead I tried this product since I had always had good experiences with the 3 and 7 day kits. After using it before bed, I woke up at 5am and thought my uterus was going to fall out - the burning was so so so so bad. If only I had read these reviews before using it. After a few hours of tossing and turning close to tears, it finally started to go away at least enough to sit at my desk at work all day. I ended up having to call my doctor for a visit and refill anyway. Bottom line - I wasted $20, lost 4 hours sleep, had to deal with unbearable burning, and had to go to the doctor anyway for a yeast infection that was worse than if I had just plain ignored it. NEVER AGAIN.

I am a 20 year old sexually active female who is familiar with yeast infections (due to my own choices/antibiotics from avid uti's) and monistat ha never disappointed me. The burning comes from your vagina/uterus already being irritated. If you read any yahoo answers they will tell you to be aware that heavy irritation will occur if you're already irritated. This is a HIGH concentration of medicine so of course it packs a heavy punch. If you don't want to experience the symptoms (WHICH THE PACKET SAYS IRRITATION MAY INTENSIFY) then use the three day or like someone before said use the smaller dosage. If you want fast relief and can handle the pain, suck it up and use this. It sucks, but in my opinion it's worth it.

I sent my husband to get me this medication because I was suffering my first yeast infection in over 10 years. I had been diagnosed before, and after taking emergency contraception I began suffering my second one. I was sure it was a yeast infection because of the symptoms I suffered before: Dry irritating sensation, cottage cheese you-know-what looking stuff.... it was obvious. I was suffering so bad that even though I read these scary reviews, I took a shot at this anyways. Well, it worked. No burning, worked instantly, relief within hours.

Make sure you diagnose yourself properly when taking this medication. Do your research. It does work for YEAST INFECTIONS, but I would assume that if your you-know-what smells fishy... that probably isn't the case.

More people are compelled to write a review on something traumatic, rather than on a good experience. The fear in me was so high when taking this medication due to those fearful reviews, that I had to give a positive one to let people know that if you know what you are doing it won't be traumatic. This stuff works well.

I'm up at 2am suffering from the WORST reaction I've ever had to any kind of medication! I used the Monistat 1 day ovule at 11pm right before bed, and was literally woken up in the middle of the night with excrutiating burining and itching! I took a bath and tried to get as much of the medication out of me as possible by inserting tampon after tampon to pull out excess medication, but to no avail. I'm typing this review because I can't go back to bed and hope it prevents any other women from experiencing what I'm going through right now. I echo the sentiments of other women that this product should be taken off the shelves!! Please please please save yourself a sleepless night and don't use this. My yeast infection symptoms were MUCH more bearible than this! Ugh, what a nightmare!!
