I've heard alot of Rockabilly, alot of RocknRoll, and alot of music in general- and I have to say that Ronnie Dawson is in my top 5 all-time favorites of any genre. This guy can rock like you would NOT BELIEVE.

BUY HIS CDS- they ALL rule.

5.0 out of 5 stars Man, I miss Ronnie..., March 14, 2005

This is a tough one for me to write. I have been listening to it recently and it took me a long time to listen to anything by Ronnie since he has passed on. This man was one of my hero's and he meant a ton to me and every other rockabilly fan who ever met him or saw him play. Hell, he played my wedding with the Lone Star Trio (another great Texas rockabilly band worth checking out), and I could never thank him enough for that. He was the kind of guy that would give you the shirt of his back and was beyond generous and giving.

I last time I saw him play was at the Lone Star Round Up (I think that was his last show he ever played) and even tired and run down the man never stopped rocking. He had more energy than twenty bands half his age and he loved what he was doing and loved his fans.

His music will live on, and he will never be forgotten.

Any CD you can get of him is great. None rate less than five starts. This one is a great deal because it more or less is two CD's on one.

If you love rockabilly and straight on real rock and roll grab this. His sound was a bit more 50's rock than billy sometimes, but he was the real thing and played with true honesty and heart.

Tracks 1 through 11 were the new ones at the time, the rest came from his first modern record and on that one he played with Boz of the Polecats. Several of the songs on this one were staples of Ronnie's live shows. "Rockin' Dog" will be familiar to Rev. Horton Heat fans, and if I remember right I think he and Jim wrote that one together (feel free to correct me if I am wrong).

Ronnie rocked, and his bones are still rocking...rock on!
