5.0 out of 5 stars Great Book For Children 3-5 Years of Age
This is a great children's book for children ages 3-5. The little girl with her monkey imitate what animal they are going to see next at the zoo, and then the reader can guess what animal it will be as they turn the page. 2.0 out of 5 stars Nothing special I'm afraid
Simple story, but nothing special I'm afraid. A little girl takes her stuffed monkey to see other animals like elephants and eventually monkeys, imitating each animal, then falls asleep. The illustrations are cute, but not very colorful or engaging for the youngest picture book audience.

This is a great children's book for children ages 3-5. The little girl with her monkey imitate what animal they are going to see next at the zoo, and then the reader can guess what animal it will be as they turn the page. The repetitiveness of the verse, Monkey and Me, Monkey and Me bring cadence to the story. The illustrations are simple, but full of action and emotion-just right for kids. This story is great for getting the child to act out the different animals.

5.0 out of 5 stars Great Storytime Book!, September 6, 2009
This review is from: Monkey and Me (Hardcover)
This is a great book for a storytime! I have read it to many groups of 1-5 year olds and have had great success with it. Books that let the child interact or move are always a big hit, and this is a fun one. You have to get the children up on their feet...guessing which animal comes next and then acting out the animal in movement. It's sure to be a hit!

5.0 out of 5 stars fun for young toddlers, January 17, 2012
This review is from: Monkey and Me (Hardcover)
Got this book when my son was a baby and at first I didn't like it because it didn't seem all that fun to read (the repetition was annoying). Now that he is a toddler, we love it. He bounces along to the rhythmic "Monkey and me, monkey and me, we went to see, we went to see" and waits in anticipation for me to turn the page to see the animals. It's simple but a lot of fun, nice illustrations, and a frequent request at 19 months age. Now buying another copy as a gift.

5.0 out of 5 stars Great book! Nice choice for the last before sleep, November 9, 2011
This review is from: Monkey and Me (Hardcover)
My 3-year-old LOVES this book. It's relatively short, maybe 15 pages. It alternates between showing a little girl playing with her monkey, and on the next page showing the animal they were imitating. It's a LOT of fun to read with my son. As we see each page of the girl playing with her monkey, I read him the (very quick) narration: "Monkey and me, Monkey and me, monkey and me, we went to see..." and then we talk about what she's doing on that page.

For example, on one page she's hanging upside down with her monkey. The next page shows bats, including one hanging upside-down just like she was. The illustrations have a cute style to them.

The book can be very fast - 2-3 minutes - or as slow as perhaps 4-5 minutes. Either way, it's a great 'last book' before bed. I've been reading it to my son every few days for a couple months now, and it's still one of his favorites. Highly recommend!

Pro:
- can be interactive, or just read to your child
- a nice size with big illustrations - it's about the size of a record album if you're old enough to remember those :)
- artistic style is nice, and the pictures of various animals (penguins, bats, elephants, monkeys, etc.) are great!

Con:
- none. I love it!

My daughter LOVES this book, amazing illustrations she never seems to tire of it. Brought it off Amazon after hiring it from the local library a thousand times and having to endure tantrums when returning it!

5.0 out of 5 stars Predictable book young children love, March 7, 2010

My grandchildren love this book and say, "Read it again." Even though they have heard it before they like to guess which animal shows up next. My granddaughter throws her arms up and squeals with delight at the bat page...like she is scared but she isn't. This is a perfect book for little ones.

My son loves this book. I checked it out at the local library and he asked to read it every night. I had to go and buy his own copy. He loves the bright, vivid pictures and loves to make sounds to all of the different animals. What a great book for my 15 month old!

5.0 out of 5 stars A Favorite of my 18 Month Old, January 26, 2010

My 18 month old daughter adores this book. She loves the rhythm when we read it, but also flips through it on her. She giggles and giggles at the kangaroos every time. I bought this book on a whim at Homegoods, very cheap, because we call the little one monkey. It was an excellent purchase. Now I want to go find the Cheerios with the free book to keep in the diaper bag.

5.0 out of 5 stars My 1yo loves it, too!, February 24, 2009
This review is from: Monkey and Me (Hardcover)
We got it free in our Cherrios, too, and now my daughter has loved it almost to pieces, so we're getting her a "real" copy for her first birthday. She loves the sing-song cadence of the words and the pictures of the animals. We love the great art, which is much better than most children's books.
