An excellent first full-length.,
This review is from: Mono (Audio CD)
I bought this for what I thought was a little bit of an overcharge ($... or so at one of those big megastores). Turns out that this album is worth every cent. You whippersnappers should feel lucky that you can get this for cheaper than me. ;) Well, anyway, every track on this album is amazing. These guys are NOT afraid to experiment, but nonetheless this album is still very coherent and rocking. If you don't buy this, you are T-R-I-P-P-I-N-G!

Blew APC away...,

Not only does Mono slay all other records. These guys blew the Alt. Rock boredom of APC away in Houston. Too bad all the idiot hillbillies had to get scared and throw their bottles at them the whole show.

I don't like A Perfect Circle...sorry,

Well, this album may not be worth 5 stars, in fact it definitely is not. But is not squarely the fault of the band. They had certain time restriction 'issues' in the studio. However i award it 5 stars to make up for the unfortunate ignorance of other posters who shall not be named (no offence but you cannot judge the band and dismiss them so easily. Now to the album, hardcore punk is not my genre of choice but my admiration for Refused, Fugazi and to a lesser extent the drug induced feedback glory that was Spacemen 3, endeared me to this adventurous band. To be honest, upon first listen i was afraid of what i had landed myself in: face first into screaming concoction of guitar, drums and, well, screaming. Opener "Love is Happiness" and single "Feed a Cat to your Cobra," however provided a more immediate gateway into the less accessible tracks on this album. Highlights include "L.O.S.T" and "In Lieu" which combine the sonic blast of the Stooges with confronting, though in these dark modern times, highly relevant lyrics. In true punk fashion, The Icarus Line do not adere to simple verse-chorus-verse, but this is a good thing. This review should serve as a warning that this album is very, very raw and if you don't noise, well just don't both...no listen for even below the noise and changing song directions, great song writing is on show. Highly reccomended - even coming from the softest of hardcore fans.

this is a strange c.d reminds me of some of the old hardcore bands.every song seems to have about 3 seperate parts to it.highly recommended if you dont mind a bit of noise{screaching vocals shrieking guitars etc}will need to be listened to more than once before making your mind up

I fed a cat to my cobra,

Granted, most people have only heard of this band cuz their guitarist writes for buddyhead, but in truth, Icarus Line is a pretty good rock band. They sound like a cross between The Stooges and Born Against. The album certainly isn't flawless (a few of the songs could stand to be shortened and the band's weird obsession with feedback gets tiresome after a while) but you could definately do much much worse. 3.5 stars

Mono by The Icarus Line,

Upon listening to this record for the first time, confusion sets in, mirroring what often seems to be the chaotic lack of structure in the songs. But focus on the record for the while and it is a booming, brimming record.

I nearly threw this CD in the bin, and nearly threw that bin in another bin, when I first heard Mono. Two listens later and I was right into it, especially when I heard the singer whisper: "It gets better than this, I swear" at the end of one of the songs: that's gold.So buy it and listen to it 3 times. If you still don't like it, it's time to get the bins out.

HORRIBLE OPENING BAND!!!!!!!!!,
By A Customer
This review is from: Mono (Audio CD)
Just saw this band open for A Perfect Circle. They were terrible and the crowd booed them the moment they began playing. Instead of giving it their all and trying to win over the crowd, one of the guitar players spit on the people in the front and then threw a water bottle which hit a girl in the face behind me. Even the singer had to tell him to shut the f*** up. Way to go, losers! Go back to washing my windows.

This band sounded terrible live, and I have no idea how they got to open for APC. The tampa show with them was a big laugh the guitar player was going nuts running around the place, stomping his foot as hard as he possibly could over and over again. Tshirts were thrown into the crowd and people dodged them, I would of left if I wasnt a big APC fan.
