Two of the game pieces was broken upon arrival (umbrella and sonic screwdriver).

All in all a solid Monopoly game that will last years and be an excellent collector's item from the 50th Anniversary of Doctor Who.

VERY cheap plastic game pieces that break when touched; lousy packaging and very poor overall workmanship.

First of all, I have to say we were very excited to see a product like this become available in the US so I did my very best to find it at a reasonable rate that wouldn't bankrupt me. I found one that listed more expensive than they are selling now but to have it sooner was worth it to my family.

So, I have to say while we have a good amount of fun playing the game I was absolutely disappointed in the quality of the game pieces. I had envisioned they would be a sturdy metal and along the lines of similar Monopoly games we own. What we received in the game were cheap metal like pieces. The umbrella lasted a good 5 games before it disconnected from the base it was on. The other pieces are of similar shoddy material though they haven't yet broken. My 11 year old was in tears thinking she'd be in trouble because she was the one playing with the umbrella piece when it broke. I assured her that I had noticed right away how cheaply made they were and was surprised it even lasted as long as it did.

I had also expected more player pieces than were included. Yes, I was super excited about the wonderful pieces listed on the box and they were all there. But, I expected more than those to be included in the game. We have a family of 5 and there are only 6 player pieces so there goes the Doctor Who game nights I had envisioned when I first set out to purchase the game. Of course with the broken umbrella I guess you could say we have 7 now. Maybe the celery will break and then we'll have 8.

I am satisfied with the game board. It is exactly as expected and any fan will get a kick out of the fact train spots are now where Tardis incarnations are and the decent enough mix of old and newish Doctor Who episode references on the board.

I was ecstatic that they came out with a commemorative edition celebrating the 50th Anniversary of Doctor Who and couldn't wait to see the creativity behind translating the classic iconography of this endearing British science fiction series into the legacy of the popular board game.

I am sorry to say that it's complete rubbish.

As soon as we opened the plastic shrink wrapping and opened the box we discovered several problems. First, the board itself was warped from bad gluing and split at the folding creases as we unfolded it.

Next, the CHEAP metal game pieces which are NOTHING like the real DIECAST metal game pieces of classic Monopoly, immediately broke. The choices are baffling. They are supposed to resemble Eleven's Bow-tie, Ten's Sonic Screwdriver, Seven's Umbrella, Five's Celery, Four's Scarf, Two's Recorder (took me awhile to identify that one since it looks more like a gun). There really wasn't much creative thought put into the design of the pieces at all. What about some classic characters like K-9, Daleks, or even the Tardis? Nope. The playing pieces are so tiny you can't really move them easily around the board. The Umbrella and the Sonic broke from their respective bases.

The board itself, aside from immediately tearing at the folds when we opened it, reveals not much creative impetus behind the familiar Monopoly real estate. Instead of Boardwalk we have Rassilon from The End of Time and The Arc of Infinity. Shouldn't Boardwalk have been Gallifrey or the constellation of Kasterborous? Do we meet River Song in Jail? Is the objective of the game to build hotels around the galaxy and build an empire? Doesn't that kind of go against Gallifreyan harmonic principals?

This is the poorest quality Monopoly set I have ever owned.

The artwork on the box and playing board is very nice but the playing board is very cheaply made of thin cardboard that is sloppily folded rather than creased.

The playing pieces are so cheaply cast that it's hard to identify what they are without some thought. Overall I am disappointed with this set.

We got the game for Christmas and the umbrella piece was broken before we took it out of the box. They are cast from cheap thin metal and are either very flat and hard to pick up to move, or very tall and thin and break easily and all look the same. I was super disappointed that they did not have fun playing pieces like K-9, a TARDIS, a Dalek, a Cyberman, thicker sonic screwdriver, a larger maybe coiled scarf, and even the old doctor's car. The bow tie and scarf are super flat and small and impossible to pick up unless you leave them upside down. I agree the properties would be much better if named after places, and the houses and hotels could have been easier to tell apart, they are both a dull gold or dull silver color plastic box bleh. Plus if there was some thought into additional modes of play besides bankrupt everyone. I know it is Monopoly, but at least one alternate play would have been cool. If we do play it again, we should try to find tiny figures of Dr Who stuff instead of the junky flat pieces they included in the box.

I'll admit outright, I have not yet played this game...
BUT! My husband and I (who are true whovians) first opened the game, we argued over who got to be the Tardis. He agreed to give it up to be a Dalek. We got home after this discussion and looked at the game only to see that neither are playing pieces! I'm still trying to figure out how the game can be a true Doctor Who game without those quintessential pieces! PS, this was a surprise gift from my brother, so we did not have any pre-conceived ideas on the game prior to receiving it. Otherwise, we love it. :)
