This is a good edition of the classic Monopoly game. The houses and hotels are greatly detailed in the 1930's deco style. Each hotel has a unique design. The tokens are more detailed and larger than the tokens in the standard and deluxe sets. The banker's tray is of a more durable plastic and feels velvet like on top. Every thing is well organized in the collector's tin and very protable.

I there are some negatives however. First the quad-folded board is not as thick as the deluxe edition. It has the same thickness as the standard sets. The second and biggest flaw in my opinion is the game only comes with one set of Monopoly money. The delexe set priced at $19.99 comes with two sets of Monopoly money. For an edition priced at $39.99, containing only one set of Monopoly money is inexcusible.

Overall I would recommend this set for play only if you don't already have a good edition of Monopoly. Otherwise I would only buy this if you are a hardcore collector of Monopoly sets.

Note: My set came with 15 hotels instead of 12 and 33 houses instead of 32. Weither you consider this a good or a bad thing I will leave up to you to decide :)

3.0 out of 5 stars Fairly Good Edition, January 30, 2009

This version of the Monopoly game is Ok. The game pieces are excellent, the board is fair and the chance and other cards are quite cute. However, the money is small and there is not enough of it. It doesn't allow for that many players to play. The tin container is very efficient. For what I paid for it, it's darn right excellent. I paid $11.00 at Toys R Us several years ago during Christmas time. I couldn't believe it. It may have been a mistake on the store's part, Because everywhere else I looked it was about 50.00 bucks. So for the $11.00 bucks that I paid, it's a darn good buy. Would I pay never pay over $100.00 bucks for it.

My rating reflects a damaged product, that was not replaced.
The 70th Anniversary Monopoly Game First Edition comes in a beautiful container and the pieces are so retro and cool. My complaint is that the quad-folded board came damaged, must not have been completely dry when folded and packaged. Opened the board and a few areas side were stuck to the opposite side and the board was bent in numerous area. Sent pictures to the seller, but would not replace the board !

5.0 out of 5 stars Monopoly tokens on Steroids!, April 17, 2006

What makes this monopoly version special is the Large Tokens and the difeerent styles of houses and hotels. I love how they made the tokens bigger and heavier. The are also about four different styles of houses and hotels for a little variety in housing. The money holder has felt on it to make it a little more fancy then standard plastic and of course the case is metal instead of the standard cardboard box. Other than that it is the same game. The only complaint I had is that I thought looking at the tin on the shelf that it was a silver and gld colored tin, but it is only siver. The gold is only on the plastic around the tin.

If your looking to buy a nice version of monopoly than this is what you are looking for. It comes in a silver colered tin with a gold plastic case around it, instead of the usual cardboard box, and includes the following:

Game Peices:
A dog, train, High heeled shoe, money bag, horse and rider, car, thimble, boat, top hat, Iron, cannon, and a wheel-barrow, all of which are either new or upgraded editions of the original game peices.

Houses + Hotels:
Ther are six different maroon hotels and four different emerald houses.

Cards + money:
The properties are the same, but the actual card is gold instead of white, the chance, community chest, and money cards/paper have a different design.

Game Board + dice:
The game board features a new design as well and has a mettalic front, while the dice are clear but have colored sparkles.

On the inside of the tin, everything comes in a soft insert that seperates all the peices. So the whole game is very nice looking and would make a great edition to any game collection, (GET THIS GAME!).

Its a fun game...not any different from the original except the pieces are cooler and it also comes with a history of the game.
We are monopoly collectors, and this is one of the better ones.
