Product Description

Manufacturer Description

The classic board game comes to the Game Boy Color! Who says you can't take it with you? Put Park Place in you pocket with this handheld version of the American classic game.

Product Description

The classic board game of property management, MONOPOLY, comes to the Game Boy Color. Choose from a wide array of tokens including the car, boot, thimble, and dog. When you get out on the board, your goal is to buy three properties of the same color. When another player lands on your property, he or she must pay you rent. Eventually, you will want to improve your property with houses and hotels so you can charge higher rents. The ultimate goal of the game is to drive all of the competition into bankruptcy. The Game Boy Color edition features all of the classic MONOPOLY gameplay and high stakes. There are eight variations of the game you can play: The Big Boys, Trader's Delight, Even Steven, Small Stuff, Money Isn't Everything, Short and Sweet, Building Shortage, and It's a Start. If you don't get this game, you will not be able to pass "Go" or collect $200.

4.0 out of 5 stars not perfect but fun, March 9, 2000
By A Customer

This game isn't a great challenge since a computer can't really think for itself and can get to be predictable and make stupid moves. Of course, luck is a part of the game so it is definitely not without challenge. Even so, for people who just love monopoly, like me, this is a great game to have. It's perfect if you want to play but there's no one else to play with you. Also it's a lot less hassle in setting up and it goes a lot faster. All in all I enjoy the game even though it will never replace the real thing.

5.0 out of 5 stars Frustrating and FUN!, July 31, 2000

At the recommendation of a friend, I bought Monopoly for Gameboy Color and it is just as fun and frustrating as the board game. It has several pre-set scenarios, and lets you play an unlimited time or a timed game. You can select 8 computer opponents with different styles of play. The animated Chance and Community Chest cards are wonderful and the music and graphics are great. I love the animated tokens, the dog runs, the horse gallops, I won't say what the car does; You'll enjoy the surprise when you see for yourself. It's frustrating because it seems like the game plays in favor of the computer opponent, rarely landing on your property. The game only has 8 of the 11 current tokens in the current game, but these complaints are minor; this is a great game! Get it; it's more fun to play with friends! (Now if they could only come out with the Monopoly Deluxe for Gameboy Color ...

4.0 out of 5 stars Addictive but sometimes too easy, March 3, 2001

I love the game of Monopoly on the board as well as the gameboy game. But after a few times of playing it on gameboy, I found strategies that made it almost impossible to lose. The only thing that makes me keep playing it trying to get the most amount of net worth at the end of the game. I usually play it when I need something to do for a half hour or so. I would be good to take to jury duty.
