I purchased this elsewhere, and was way disappointed when I opened the box to find practically everything TINY! We're talking money (and not enough of it for a REAL game) the size of business cards, property deeds/cards smaller than Post-It notes, Chance & Community Chess cards like a book of stamps, and houses/hotels you could fit in your ear. Ironically, the darn dice are huge, which is silly since the playing surface of the board itself is pretty small. Buyer beware, as always.

Bought this from Borders for 90 bucks (Christmas vouchers ;), as I figured it was time to get a nice, big, deluxe monopoly set.

Never have I been more disappointed. The board is smaller than the regular, fold-out monopoly board. The cards are smaller, but the worst feature is the tiny, cheap, single sided money supply, of which there is not enough to even distribute the starting cash! This version even comes with different allocation rules to make up for it!

We didn't even make it twice around the board, before giving up - its cheapness being so infuriating. You just feel stupid holding the tiny notes.. Monopoly is all about holding wads of cash. The Onyx edition doesn't deliver.

For monopoly lovers, this is pretty much the same as the original version. The only difference is the size. For some reason, they made this edition teenie tiny! And the pricing in Amazon is ridiculous. I mean when they say Special Silver, is it real silver and onyx? Aside from the size and price, the colors are amazing (go Raiders)! Try Barnes and Noble for a cheaper price...

It seems every board game has to reinvent itself every few years. I guess Monopoly is the same way. This is essentially the same, basic original Monopoly game dressed up to look like the kind of Monopoly game a CEO would have in his executive office. It's really not neccessary to own this version if you already have a previous Monopoly. Also, it's smaller which makes building more difficult and can get confusing/frustrating, not to mention crowded if you play with a large number of players. The Board is about 3 inches smaller on all side from the typical large, foldable board versions. Oh and on that subject it doesn't fold. It's heavy. Seriously you could probably kill someone with it if you were so inclined.

If you really need the cast iron pieces and the fancy looking mini-board then I guess this is for you. If you really just want to play the game there's better ones out there.

This is a great family game and lots of fun with 4 or more players.

I love this edition but I didn't have to pay 130 dollars or more. I only paid 17 dollars! The edition is beautiful and miniaturized! I used it in my classroom and the kids really like it. The only complaint it that when the dice land on the board, it dents it. The board is very good looking.
