4.0 out of 5 stars It's still monopoly, November 3, 2007

Being a big Marvelite, I bought this game hoping that, as was done with the Lord of The Rings monopoly, the game would have some kind of fun Marvel twist. Unfortunately it's just barebones monopoly for the most part. The one fun thing about it is that it comes with a huge selection of decals you can put on the spaces to customize your board. These decals range in all kinds of character from fan-favorites to people who non-comic readers wouldn't recognize (and some who you wonder why they're even an option, like Absorbing Man). The game pieces are quite disappointing in their craftsmanship, with the only piece being very good detail is that of Kingpin. You'd think with bigger-name characters like Wolverine, Spider-Man, or the Phoenix, they'd pay more attention to detail, but that's not the case.

If you're a fan of monopoly and a fan of marvel, it's a fun buy. but don't be surprised if you find more enjoyment in selecting your decals for the board than actually playing.

5.0 out of 5 stars Fun and Unique game, January 18, 2009
Ordered this for my 15 year old Marvel Comics Fan son. He loved it. He designed the game in an evening and had the whole family playing along soon after. Was concerned that the quality might not be great but it seems very durable. Only complaint was that there was no Captain America game piece - his favorite. Oh well, he got to name the most expensive property for Captain America - seemed to satisfy him. Really a fun and unique gift!

5.0 out of 5 stars Finally WE get to Choose, May 12, 2007

Its very cool. You get to choose who's the traditional Boardwalk and the rest. The best part is that they don't mention that you can replace them and reuse them. If you want Dr Doom to be Boardwalk one day, and then you want him as 'Marvins Gardens' the next, you still can. It's the perfect gift for any comic book lover of any age!!

5.0 out of 5 stars FOR MY HUSBAND, May 21, 2009
This review is from: My Marvel Heroes Monopoly (Toy)
MY HUSBAND COLLECTS MONOPOLY GAMES AND THIS WAS JUST TO ADD TO HIS COLLECTION. WE DO NOT OPEN OR PLAY WITH HIS MONOPOLY GAMES. IF YOU HAVE A COLLECTOR IN THE FAMILY, THIS SEEMS LIKE A FUN ADDITION.

5.0 out of 5 stars Thwppt! Snickt! Marvel packs a punch!, January 10, 2007
This review is from: My Marvel Heroes Monopoly (Toy)
Just as the description says, The Marvel Universe is YOURS!

Using square colorforms of every imaginable Marvel character from Spiderman to Venom to Spidergirl. Bad guys, good guys, and superheros you've never heard of (The Scarlet Witch??)! There are only about 20 characters that you need to select to put on the board, but over 100 characters to choose from. You name it, they're there: Hulk, Dr. Octopus, Red Skull, Silver Surfer, Iron Man, The Fantastics, The X-Men!

It does take a little while to setup, but it's fun for everyone to sit around deciding who gets to go on the board. Once they're on the board, you can decide to keep the same lineup for several games, or go back and make minor adjustments. Maybe Dr. Doom shouldn't be on the expensive spots... maybe replace him with Professor X.

You also obviously need to take the heading of the character and put it on the Property Cards. For example if Spiderman is put on Boardwalk space it's referred to as Space# 40 (the 40th square on the board). There is a colorform word of "SPIDERMAN" that you need to put onto the Blue Property Card for Space# 40.

The Chance cards are called "Thwppt!" and "Snickt!". The only bad part about these is that they obviously have to refer to "Space #40" or "Go to Space #12" rather than saying "Spiderman" or "Go to The Hulk".

The tokens are cool: Spider-Man, Ghost Rider, Phoenix Force, Silver Surfer, Kingpin, and Wolverine. The railroads are replaced with flying machines. And the utilities are replaced by Dr. Doom's Mansion and X-Men's Place.

The money is the same (except with pictures of Spiderman and The Hulk on them) and you still collect $200 when you pass GO, or go to JAIL, and have FREE PARKING. I kind of wish they would have spiced those spaces up a bit more. At least have a picture of Dr. Octopus in JAIL (the spaces are all the traditional pictures from regular Monopoly).

It brings a whole new dimension though to Monopoly. And is really fun. You can feel like you're playing a different game each time.
